Astraeus SCCM Position

Hi everyone,

My sister has been offered a direct entry SCCM position with Astraeus at their new base in LBA. She is completely unsure what to do, as it would mean giving up a permanent (and well-paid) job. Nevertheless, this is a local base for her.

Could someone that CURRENTLY works for AEU as a SCCM please let me know how busy she could expect to be and an average take home monthly salary. She was given some details at her interview, but it would be better to hear it from the horse's mouth (so to speak!). I can then pass this information to her and hopefully it will make her decision a lot easier - she hasn't got long!!
Any other useful stuff would also be gratefully received.

Please feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Thanks very much.

As LBA is a new base I really don't know what the rosters will be like for that base. I am a SCCM at LGW and during the summer months it is always busy and the wage is not bad, average of £1,600 during the summer. The winter months are quieter and this does affect your wage but obviously I am talking about LGW base.

There is another Astraeus thread on here which seems to have turned into a slanging match, I wouldn't read anything into it, Astraeus is a good company with a bright future. if you want to know any more send me a private message.

We hear the LBA base will be an Airbus A319 leased from Lotus of Egypt. It will be flying mainly for Mytravel. The base will more than likely be a summer only operation.

The LBA base will be a steady base for the Summer and who know what will happen once the Summer Ends. Its a new base so can't say how it will work. But there will be alot of good people up there and the Flying programme is generous.

Well said London Jets. The previous posts have turned into a slaggin match, but there are a few people that dont know the correct answers.

Roll on the good work AEU

FLY-JEMS,

Do you honestly think that just because you can become 'senior' in a year, that Astraeus is any sort of long-time career prospect for anyone????? .

I would rather be flying with the worlds greatest, GREAT TERMS AND CONDITIONS, Excellent trips, night stops, They are bringing 777 out next year at LGW, which just for the record, I live in London, nearer Heathrow , so what are you on about the M25???????????

Good luck to anyone starting with Astraeus, you will need it.

Remember 3 years in not a long time in aviation. BA has been around before you're nan was before.

When Astraeus reaches that height of excellence, I will eat my words.

Malachy - so you rear your disapproving head again! I think most of us have read the other threads and are quite aware that you obviously didn't enjoy Astraeus. Many of us have worked for other airlines, many of us have links with the "Worlds Favourite" and know that even there it isn't all it's cracked up to be. There's a place of work for everyone so kindly stop your slagging.

malachy8985 - A search of previous posts reveals that your history on this forum involves your self appointed role as a purveyor of the "truth" about Astraeus and a self gratification about your job at BA that borders on the masturbatory. You administer these posts with a sparkling lack of wit, perception or real evidence.

Everyone now has the message, son - Take a break.
