QF Shrinking Network

So, FRA finishes in June. The LHR base is soon up and running. This must cause excess crew numbers...Maybe a VR coming up?

The word from MH is NO!
They reckon they have years of leave (AL and LSL) to burn first by directing crew to take it.

Seams the network for long haul cabin crew is shrinking but growing for our less expensive friends at Jetstar and AO.

Trust?

...And you trust Kylie? VR would probably remove a lot of the high cost employees..those that are not engaged, those that are participating in an expensive superannuation scheme and those that are coasting.
Also if you retrench staff(voluntarily)then you are not liable for the super component of their leave.Plus the money for VR was earmarked long ago and would not have an impact on the current bottom line.
You honestly think that these guys would pay a lot of staff for staying at home and doing nothing for a couple of months without some ulterior agenda.I would imagine less leave means you are more vulnerable should you need a break when YOU want it.
Start crunching some numbers...how many services have been reduced? How many crew did it take to populate these withdrawn services?Where has the capacity gone?Less day trips for Sydney based longhaul.MNL is having the Australian based crew component reduced. All of these changes have an impact on crew requirements.Unless there is a reasonable expansion of the longhaul international operation in the foreseeable future, there must be an excess...Think About it !

MNL appears in the Sydney short haul pattern books for part of March as well.
