I reckon this is still a myth most airlines encourage - why? Majority of cabin crew are women, young, attractive. Young chaps would flock to the job and you'd end up with most flights being like blind-date rather than serving passengers etc.
So airlines maintain the 'gay' myth to limit the amount of straight men from applying.
Anyway, if you're gay what's the point in working with mainly women on-board. I would have thought the best place for a gay man to work would be a rugby club !

"Gay recruiters are unlikely to favour gay men - Anyone other there who would disagree with that statement?"
Well I worked in cabin crew recruitment for a year, and I was usually the only male on the interview panel, so most of the decisions were made by women. Shouldn't we be asking why women prefer working with gay men?
It depends what sort of gay man I am interviewing to if I am favour them. Gay people are as individual as straight people. That is why the term "gays" is not really liked by gay people, it feels like we are being stereotyped.
I know this whole thread I started involved a bit of stereotyping in that most male crew are gay, but it my airline at least, the majority of male crew are gay. (My guess is around 80%)
I think the job does suit the single lifestyle more, and again a bit of a stereotype, but gay people generally are less likely to be in a long term relationship than straight guys. I blame gaydar.co.uk for that

It is impossible for lesbos to join the Mile-High club as they are not properly equipped. Like anything it requires one of each standard type. Ie male and female. get it???
Also: to truly join mile-high club you need to be flying the aircraft.. not just sitting on your @rse down in the cabin. Anyone can do that......

Well, thank you Blue Mullode for that penetrating insight into the darker recesses of your soul: On that happy note I think it is now time to lock this thread into the PPRuNe lead lined box, where it can further decay harmlessly over the next several million years.
