Who has the best boarding music???
Just wondering what music different airlines have during pax boarding. If anyones like me you know all the words and cringe when it comes on the radio but have to sing along!!! Heres what we have at Excel at the mo....
Scissor Sisters - Comfortably Numb
Will Young - Your Game
Westlife - Obvious
Kylie Minogue - Red Blooded Woman
Snow Patrol - Run
Katie Melua - This Is the Closest thing
Joss Stone - Fell In Love With a Boy
Delta Goodrem - Predictable
Ronan keating - She Believes In me
George Michael - Amazing
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Emma Bunton - I'll be there
Sure i've missed 1 or 2 but not a bad selection, after the first 5 times on repeat at 5am in the morning though... and we've got it till may!!!

In Air France we have a CD expressely made for us by a musician. Cannot say if it's good or bad because after having had it stuffed down my ears for months I need to take medication to bear it without having a fit. The best joke in the galley lately, since the CD was put for sale on the on board duty free (apparently pax, probably affected by hypoxia, kept asking were they could get it) is to ask the collegues "Did you ask for the boarding music CD for Xmas" followed by hysterical laughter

A while ago I had to do a couple of early morning GLA-LHR BMI flights.
Twice as we taxied out for takeoff at Glasgow, I was treated to Ronan Keating singing 'If Tomorrow Never Comes'.

sparkymarky - LMAO! What a song to be played before taking off into the unknown; as if there weren't enough people already worrying!
I'm not cabin crew (nor do I want to be, may I add), but I prefer the 'ambient' tunes that are played in conjuction with the photos/videos of various destinations.. Anyone know any examples?

On a top ten of inappropriate boarding music songs:
Flights to the alps:
River deep, mountain high (Tina Turner)
Long overnight sectors:
[I want to fall from the] Stars (Simply Red)
Club Europe:
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am - stuck in the middle with you

....sad i know .
.....but,
hey it made me laugh and pax ..mostly

Thats hilarious!!!
Hmm best boarding music - as in songs that I have heard on boarding tapes and still been able to bare when I hear them on the radio: Red Blooded Woman (Kylie), Family Affair (Mary J Blige - a good song to play en-route to tasmania! kidding), Men Are Not Nice Guys (especially good after break up with the ex), Summer Sunshine (The Corrs - although quite ironic when it comes on and you have touched down in Melbourne at 6am, 2 degrees celsius and pouring rain!)
The one song I hope I *never* hear again is Not Pretty Enough by Kasey Chambers (if I hear the opening strains of that song one more time I think I am going to slit my wrists... or even worse I may contemplate eating a crew meal!!!) - we had it on our tape for I swear about 6 months, it was torture!

Slightly off topic, but isn't Kylie's latest offering (I Believe In You) just absolutely brilliant!!
I am trying to convince Emirates to select it as their boarding music.............................

I remember last time I flew DJ, the song they had on during taxi (right before the demo) was 'Superstar' by jamelia.... all I could think of was the ad for the Sony Singstar where the guy tips the water on himself....
made me laugh, but the poor girl at the front of the plane was looking at me strangely, I think perhaps she thought I was giggling at her demo. So, if you're reading this, sorry, it wasn't the demo at all!
I also have this really vivid memory of flying to New Zealand, looking out of the window, and on the music channel they had Madonna singing "You'll See" (or something to that effect). think that was the first cd single I ever bought.... i didn't like the song THAT much, but it reminded me of flying...!

PS - that new Kylie one is verrrrry catchy isn't it - stayed in my head for hours yesterday!

My employer has removed Boarding Music altogether - apparently the cost savings in royalties are circa £30K p.a. - Nowadays, we board to the musical strains of the APU.
How sad is that!
How sad is that!
Only half a speed-brake
How sad it would be when radio commercials will have be played ...
[sorry, I am sincerely unable to fine tune the grammar on this one...]

Don't know about the best.. but the worse must be Transaero
OK once.... but after the 20th time...
Better than Russian trains though.... once got stranded at 4am in the morning in the middle of nowhere in russia... then the piped music started up in the sleeping car.... "In the Death Car" by Iggy Pop.... wickedly surreal

Australian Airlines
Norah Jones - Sunrise
Deltra Goodrem - Not me, Not I
Alecia Keys - You don't know my name
George Michael - Amazing
Kylie Minogue - Chocolate
Sugarbabes - Too lost in you
Human Nature - When you say you love me
plus a few other classical songs and cafe del mar type chill out music and some others which I don't know the name of.
btw - the official party song for crew from Australian is "Jamelia - Superstar "because she sings the words......."everybody talking bout...AO....AO.....AO" ( which is our two letter airline designator code ! )

Wow, I can't believe some airlines actually have REAL music for boarding!
At Flybe we've been stuck with the same tape for the past 2+ years on the 146 fleet. It has some recognisable songs, but they are all re-made instrumental versions.
On the 'Flybe boarding music June 2002' tape are, among others, timeless classics such as:
'I've got you under my skin' - Frank Sinatra
'Didn't we almost have it all' - Whitney Houston (How uplifting?)
'Will you still love me tomorrow' - from 'Dirty Dancing'
All very recent tunes, as you may have noticed
On the Dash 8-Q400's 'integrated digital announcement system' are more instrumental versions of hits from the past:
'Do you know the way to San Jose?' - (haven't a clue who did that one!)
'Zoom' (The moon and stars came out to play...) - Fat Larry's Band
'Walk on by' - Gabrielle
'Blue Velvet' - Bobby Vinton
'Joanna' - Scott Walker
again, among other as yet unrecognisable blasts from the past! It's a bit of a competition when we're bored to see who can 'name that song'!
Still, miles better than no boarding music at all...
