CityJet
Hi guys and gals,
just a quick question (and I did us the search function )
I'm not fluent in French, I took it at school for a GCSE (that was only 3 years ago though ) if I got my bum in gear I could get myself back up to converstion standard
With not being fluent in French how likely is it that I just wasted 20 minutes of my life filling in an online application?

Depends whether you want to live in Paris or Dublin... But I wouldn't recommend ****tyJet anyway, management is called the in-house "gestapo"... Aircraft are old, noisy and dirty and people rarely stay longer than one year...
But if you like that AF uniform, and want to join WX then yes, you better get your french books out again. Can't really justify serving AF pax if you don't speak a word of french can you ???

Cityjet is really a ****ty company. I have been in the company for two years now and I have never been treated like that. You work like a dog, when you are sick you are not paid at all, you are always sick because the aircraft are old like gtadxb said. All the cabin crew staff is looking for a new job. Managemnt have no consideration for you. You do what they want and you just have to shut up.
If that can help you. I would'nt recoomend the company to anyone. Just if you want to make money and experience for 1/2 years but not more.
how are you gtadxb ?

I know I could get myself back up to conversation standard.. and I'd hope to be based in Dublin
speaking of Dublin (to go totally off topic) Dublin is in Ireland, and Ryanair is a Irish airline (see how well I mananged to twist it round )
I was browsing the ryanair website yesterday and I noticed they're recruiting, how the hell do you apply to them? there's like 7 different links to different sites

What has not been mentioned is that WX pays the cabin crew well by cc standards. More than AF take home I believe. Even new juniors don't make too far off new junior FO's
But the people in general are good, like anywhere there are a few oddballs of course.
The aircraft are bad though allright, WX having one of the oldest fleets of any European airline.
As for the French, many cc particularly in DUB can't speak a word.
From what I know of FR, whatever faults WX has, its paradise compared to FR.

I am surprised you say the aircraft are bad...in what area are they bad?
Yes, they might be old and a little worn in places but, I have to say maintenance wise the aircraft @ Cityjet are very well looked after in comparison to other onefoursick fleets I've seen.

Cityjet
Well ive worked for cityjet for over 3 yrs. As mentioned the pay for cabin crew is above average, especially in CDG granted they work hard but they GET PAID well for there efforts.
Granted in any job there are good and bad points but the comments made earlier by ex cdg based crew I find hard to believe.
Promotion prospects are good, the cabin crew trainers are very experienced and very approachable.
Cityjet is an Irish airline owned by Air France, french lessons are offered with in company and you get paid while taking these lessons.
This is a personal view of the company which after reading those negative points earlier from french crew I decided to post a reply.
p.s We can speaking french in Dublin but not with a french accent. There are a few French crew who think they are working for AF mainline but they are not!!!

LGW Vulture:
I don't mean the aircraft are badly maintained, they are not and they are sound aircraft, being very strongly and well built.
BUT, they are not modern aircraft. By "bad" I mean they are very old (the -200's are from 1984-86), very fuel inefficient (at about 2.1 tonnes per hour, about the same fuel burn as the 738 which carries twice the pax), underpowered, slow, with rubbish avionics and autoflight systems (i.e. non-RVSM, non-RNAV in the terminal area), noisy (inside anyway), uncomfortable for pax and crew etc etc etc, the list is long of valid complaints about it is long and varied.
They do the job well that they were designed for, short runways like LCY and FLR. But on the rest of the routes its substandard. On the other hand, its dirt cheap to lease so WX makes money. I imagine an efficient aircraft would make even more money, but thats just my opinion and ignores the AF politics involved in getting new equipment.

Such comments from CDG crew are fairly common I'm afraid. I think the DUb crew are generally a happier bunch. As you say, some think they are AF mainline and reminders of otherwise doesn't go down too well!
VanillaSky, you say "she didnt call back... this is really weird!~"
No its not, its called the SOP for airline recruitment.

Well, I think I know why the DUB cabin crew are "happier" than the CDG crew... Just compare their rosters and you'll understand !!
Honestly, I have NEVER worked for such a bad company and am glad I left.
I mean have you ever heard of a company whose HR boss comes and "welcomes" you on your first day in the company & says that they don't want you to stay longer than a couple of years ?!?!!!
The only positive aspect of WX is that the atmosphere in CDG is very good, hein Titi ?
I'll send you a private msg Titi, ok?
