MAM to QF permanent

Just curious (considering we've heard nothing) as to what everyone thinks about this email that was received by MAM casuals/fixed termers close to two months ago stating that full time will be offered to casuals/fixed termers in Feb 2005?

Is there some truth to it or is it just QF getting everyone's hopes up again and again and again?

Hey there OzCabinCrew,

It appears that it is more than just QF getting ppl's hopes up. As it has already started for the MAM citizens over here in the East.

In fact, I can't be sure of the numbers. But was chatting the other day with a guy on board who didn't make it through the acceptance stage and lost out to someone he knows.

Not sure of the timings and so forth, but definately permanent roles are on the way in the East for MAM casuals.

Cheers,

Agree with Bizzi_Boi have heard from MAM casuals that they still expect permanent positions to be offered to them early next year, that is for Sydney base at least. There has been talk that the number of positions spread over all bases will be something like 90.

I always thought that there was a cap on the number of casuals that could be employed within short haul but the only people that know the actual figures are Qantas, MAM and the FAAA (I hope), as it doesnt take much to work out that the current ratio would easily be 75% permanent 25% casual but Im thinking the proportion of casual is higher at present.

Im all for a proportion of casual employment BUT there has to be some opportunity for permanent employment as this benefits the MAM casuals that choose to apply as well as regional progression (which has been greatly effected by Mr Dixons policy of more casuals/contractors over permanent).

Its now been over 2 years since a substantial number of permanent positions have been offered and in that time I would expect a lot of permanent crew have left without being replaced therefore pushing up the proportion of casuals employed to hopefully reach the cap.

Lets hope we see some permanent positions offered very soon and Im sure the people at the bottom of seniority will be hoping so as well.

Hi!!!

Thanks for that guys!!!! It wouldn't surprise me then if the permanent recruitment for casuals has already been done then with those few on the east being made full time already, who knows????? All i want is some sort of communication. Fair enough if they are still in talks with what's going to happen, then just send us an email telling us that, because no-one know's at the moment what is going on! I hope that permanent recruitment happens to a lot more people and not just a handfull and then that's it for another 3 years! All we can do is keep everything crossed!!!
