Thanks Galley Power.....

we've got one training now and yes, there's interviews early January for a January ground school, averaging 15-20 FAs in each ground school. These are for our Perth, Darwin and Cairns Bases.
So if I sent in my app RIGHT NOW would i be too late? (have had it on my desk for about a month....) Only problem is, I'm waiting on an RSA course.... I suppose I could tell them I''m in process of getting it.....?

And do you think I'd have much chance being 21? Have had retail/service exp but not a lot of recent Im afraid.... do live 15 mins from the airport though

Ah well, may as well try I guess.....

What are the hours like for NJS & Link? I mean, on average how many days would you do in a week/month? ta....

Virgin Blue thinking about a Perth base in March
I am so there if they are.....! Wonder if it is true.....?

again, best of luck, let's all keep our fingers crossed for each other!

Hi!!!

I wonder how it would work if Jetstar did operate out of Perth? Would they be competing on the same routes as QF mainline, ie Karratha, Kalgoorlie, Broome? Obviously they would be on the east coast flying etc, but on W.A regional flying as there are a lot of contracts, mining etc connected with mainline?

DgHob,

I won't be flying Jetstar anytime soon as a Flight Attendant

Just to let everyone else out there know, I received an email last week saying "unfortunately on this occasion..." after spending $120 on my medical $49 on the security check and $65 on starting a course of compulsory Hep A and B vaccinations.

This was my 4th aviation medical that I have been to for the Qantas Group. (Yes, that means I have paid all of the above costs 4 times over...).

I am getting a feeling it is a conspiracy against me, when the medical is absolutely fine and the security check is fine too.

I am very upset, and I don't know whether to ever apply to Qantas again, as I am getting really sick of going through all the interviews, making it through every stage of the process and then bombing out after the medical for no apparent reason.

Why put me through all of that if they have no intention of ever hiring me. Sorry to go on and on but I am pretty upset.

I don't know what to do.

Good luck to everyone.

If Jetstar win the contract for the QFlink 717 operation out of Perth they wont be competing with Qantas mainline, they will operate exactly like National Jet do.

If Jetstar start flying into Perth in their own right I dont think it will be in direct competition to Qantas, they will operate as they do on the east coast.

stillontheground,

Sorry to hear you didn't make it this time. I know it doesn't make you feel any better but it truly does show that you did a great job to get as far as you have. Maybe it just came down to numbers and they like you but they didn't have enough spots.

On the bright side you are showing them your enthusiasm and persistance and maybe the next time is your time. Things do happen for a reason, I hope you find yours soon.

Don't give up.

Iguanahead,

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I am sure that all the interviewers like me, but the people that make the final decision hate me. As far as numbers go, Jetstar advertised for Cabin Crew in the Melbourne Age a week after I received a rejection letter. That really hurt the most.

On a better note, I have applied for a couple of other airlines, and hopefully (fingers crossed) will get interviews in the new year.

Thanks again. You made my day.

All the best with you.... hope that you get what ever your heart desires

Stillontheground,

I can remember a while ago someone on the CC forum who was trying for ages to get a flying job... applied and applied.... finally got one.... think it may have been QFmike... (correct me if I'm wrong...)

amongst others who have tried for ages as well. As Iguanahead has already said.... it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN!!! Just think of the job as in the bag...you're just waiting for your take-off clearance!

It'll happen before you know it!! Just concentrate on keeping all your skills up-to-date in the meantime so they've no possible reason to turn you down....

Good luck - my fingers are crossed for you!!!!!

I got the same call!
Did group a few weeks ago, panel last fri morn... Got a call today, now I understand the medical and security stuff is being sent, and there is a morning tea next week? I was a bit excited, hehe.

You probably know, nothing is concrete until its signed and under your nose... I think after the morning tea it all goes for some sort of executive review, and at that point, the final decision is made.

Best of luck to you, and everyone else. From what ive heard, jetstar looks like an awesome place to work... Im trying so hard not to get too excited just yet...

Sorry to hear that - keep trying. There's a very true saying that goes along the lines that there's nothing as omnipotent as persistence.

Good luck

hmmm

Secure..

Yeah.. what's the Go with the morning tea?

I live in Syd so i hope that i don't have to fly up for the medical.. but it's worth it if i do.. the lady on the phone really didn't explain the morning tea just that i would get another phone call in the next few day letting me know when, where and all that..

But.. I'm realy happy but don't want to get too excited just in case.. though it's a good sign to get this far i think..

I REALLY have wanted to work for Jet* since they started so i've just got all my fingers and toes crossed for this.. and praying my little heart out..

We.. if you can fill me on on what's the Go with the morning ta that would be fab..

Good Luck!

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to say thanks to those who replied to my sorry, sorry remarks about not getting in for the 4th time ... but I do want to tell you guys that you are right, and I know that if Im persistant, someone will maybe feel perhaps a little sorry for me one day, and give me some wings to play with

In the meantime, to all of those who are currently going to the Jet* interviews (the morning tea with management), I know the drill. You will meet at the designated place and you will all be standing around (well it was like that when I had mine), and there will be about 8 or 10 people from Jet* who will be "mingling" about just coming up to you and chatting a bit.

Then they will have a break for about 15 minutes, and then one by one you will go into little conference rooms with 2 Jet* people, and it will be similar to the panel interview, where they ask you things like "why jetstar?" and they will ask you other questions.

Good luck to everyone. I hope you will all get through.

By the way. Merry Christmas !

Hi Guys

Brnad new here and just found this thread.

I just applied to Jetstar today online. Is this the way that you all applied??

It only said 'accepting interest' online but not that there were positions vacant.

Did I just miss an intake?

don't give up

STILLONTHEGROUND, You cannot give up. I have been rejected from Jetstar once, Virgin twice, Emirates didn't even give me an interview and now I am stuck in the middle of the whole Qantas fix-termer thing! Hopefully they will call me at the end of the year and offer me something...anything...please!!!!!! If not I will be back to sqare one! But I know heaps of people that work as cabin crew and one of them took 6yrs to get his dream job with Qantas!

Slightly OT...

I posted an application for National Jet on Friday, today I got a letter in an NJS envelope.

I sat there looking at it thinking.... "hmmmm..... too small to be a 'welcome, we wanna interview you but we need more info" letter..... must be a "sorry, you're too late letter." too fast to be a "yes we want you" either.

Opened it and found it was a happy medium "thanks for your application, we're looking at them all now, we'll let you know about interviews etc etc and so on and so forth."

Not a yes, but not a no either.....

Not going to get my hopes up too much, as I know some of you were left dangling for ages after one of these letters....

So will just concentrate on my current job and getting those CS skills up to scratch. (may go apply for JQ while I'm at it.... )

Good luck again to you all, anyone else heard back????

Congrats on the job australian boy, best of luck to you with Jetstar I'm sure youre going to love it.

SkySista good luck with the NJS application.

Iguanahead is happy to say that I've passed through to the next stage of medical, security and morning tea with Jetstar. A little bit excited ( understatement of the year ) but not getting carried away as we all know it can go pearshaped at anytime. There are no guarantees.

Good luck to everybody applying, hopefully Santa will bring us all some good news for 2005.
