Pilots and Cabin Crew
Hi Ladies and Gents,
Just out of interest what is the general concencus, regarding pilots applying for jobs as cabin crew whilst actively looking for flight crew positions?
As I am sure alot of people are aware, a pilot fresh out of training will be finding it difficult to obtain that first job. I am going to be in that situation shortly, and would welcome opinions from anybody within the industry. I suppose what I am getting at is, if the airline knows that a candidate is a qualified pilot, would that put the candidate at a disadvantage when applying for a cabin crew position, perhaps knowing that he/she will only be a cabin crew member for a short while, or would they see it as an advantage having a person with another skill that could be of use to the airline in the future?
The reason I ask this question is that on completion of pilot training, one thing I do know is, I would not want to retutn to my previous profession as an engineer. I would rather get into the industry through the cabin crew route offer my services in this profession, learn a new skill, and hopefully in the future land a job as flight crew.
Any opinions good are bad would be appreciated.

I have worked with a number of people that have been cabin crew and moved on to be a pilot (male and female). I think the only problem will be how you put this across at the interview. It will raise questions even for airlines employing cabin crew on seasonal contracts...'what happens if a job offer came up during your contract?'
As for you working as cabin crew, as long as you demonstrate you have the enthusiasm and qualities to work the other side of the cabin door you could be offered a position. Good Luck
