Unhappy No time to have a life!

Guys, I would really like to know how you all who have a partner who works on rosters manage to have a healthy life together.

My other half and I have been together for 15 months, he works for FCA and things weren't too bad when I was still with that company. But now that I moved to BA our rosters are a nightmare!

Between the 7th of july and the 7the of september we had only one day off together (at the beginning of august).
We were lucky enough to get 6 days annual leave together around my birthday (last week) and october is again a struggle to find some time to spend together. Three evenings, that's all!!!
We both fly short haul and this doesn't really help.

How do you organize your time with your partner?
We seem to have endless arguements driven by frustration, and since I cannot change the rosters I would lke to find a way to bear the problem and find a way to live with it without feeling like s**t everytime a roster is issued.

How do you do? Can a relationship survive all this?
Any advice is welcome....

feeling a bit blue today

cheers

Hey there fbw,

Is there no way he could move to BA ? I remember hearing about 'couples rosters' @ BA.

Goodluck with the rosters, hope things work out

Staff travel? Not exactly sure how your rosters are looking there, not sure if your short haul layovers are long enough, but perhaps if you days off fall when the other person is away, you could staff travel to each others destinations? Sounds like hard work I know, but tell me ANY relationship that isnt!

My wife has not worked since we got married 37 years ago. With me on shift work and therefore home a great deal it was fantastic. Now I'm retired it is truly magical. OK, we don't have 2 BMWs in the front drive and we don't know where our next 42" plasma TV is coming from... but we have an idyllic life and a wonderful family. Pays yer money and takes yer choice...

He's a pilot for FCA flying only short haul (there&back every day/night) I fly short haul, often on 2-3 day trips. Too junior for ID tickets, and even paying the whole fare he's been used and misused by FCA since may only having the statutory 8 days off per month.
It's so tough, I am thinking of a way to get out of this vicious circle. I really wouldn't like to be in the situation of having to choose him or my job-simply because it's not fair and he would never do it himself!
I just hope that the winter season will be better and will give us what we deservbe: a bit of time together.
Fingers crossed.
