ANA vs JAL

Hello !!!

I'm wondering which of these 2 airlines are best to work for ?
Do you know which one offers the most attractive salary ?
Do you know which one offers the best work conditions ?

All informations are more than welcome.

Thank you.

JAL

Go for JAL, they've been around in LHR longer and more stable. You'll get more destinations and you will be flying on 747 and 777. Used to work for ANA but it's really boring to be in a sI-Iity hotel in FRA all the time or NRT where you'll be bored very soon.

Yes, totally agree with dupont, JAL is much better. Although, when I was there it was fixed term contracts. This could have changed though?

Perdiums depend on the exchange rate of the month (dunno where they got thier figures from. They also depend on the living costs of the country you are going to. For instance 48 hours in Sydney is a lot less than the same time in Tokyo. I seem to remember getting mid £90's for a regular 2 night stay.
Loved my time there, but finished my contract and also living out of a suitcase!
Miss Japan a lot tho. Yuroshku!

JAL Recruiting

Hi Guys and Gals!

Does anyone know what type of person JAL look for, do they prefer "new" people or people with experience as I am interesting in applying but have about 5 years flying experience and main crew and as a senior - will this go againist me?

The chance to work for JAL and learn the lingo sounds like a great challenge! Any info would be gratefully received!

Flymeboy,

Jal are recruiting now, I'm pretty sure you have to speak a second language, Spanish, Italian, or French, it does say you must be fluent in French but I speak Spanish and Italian no French.

The interview is very hard compared to the one I did previously.

I was with Astraeus before and that didn't go against me even though I finished my contract early, so I really didn't have that much experience, but I did study japanese at evening class so I guess that showed my enthusiasm..

JAL

I have just been invited for an interview with JAL. Note - I do not know either French, Spanish or Italian, so it is not a requirement to know these languages.
They would probably prefer if you knew them, though.
I do know two other languages on top of English and have started to learn 3rd language though. I think they like to have various language speakers and they can see that you learn languages easily as you would have to learn Japanese.

JAL sounds more interesting that ANA as they have more varied routes, definately! Layovers in Sydney, Milan, Rome, Tokyo, Delhi etc... Nice!

They give you 10 days off at your base per month, which is really good. I gather salary is very good although they don't say what before the interview.

Training is very long - 7 weeks in London and 6 weeks in Tokyo. Afterwards 1 month of line training. Then you have a probationary period. They are extremely strict, I've been told. So it is not for faint hearted!

Hi I have just got an interview too. To be honest im so thrilled but also very scared normal reaction maybe. I want to ask if anybody knows about the interview. What is the layout. Is there the dreaded Maths test, if there is what kinds of calculation any basic info would be a great help. I worked in Japan for a year so this is like dream come true. So any info would be vital.

Very BRGDS
