I gave my new style Virgin uniform to the charity shop - red wool coat and all.

Gutted?

mummyred,

you will have made some collector VERY happy though! I have found most of my uniforms in the same way - and it was great because I really am too poor to be able to pay much at all (poor student/pilot syndrome :P )

So, on behalf of some happy collector, thanks!

Just a question guys -Does the policy on disposal of uniforms vary with the airline? Or do they all require current uniforms to be given back nowadays?

Syysista,

Generally all airlines do ask for uniforms to be handed back when a change is due. I am now unfortunately now back on terra firma (of clipped wings!) and personally think that a collection like mine is a really nice way of keeping memories of different eras within airlines alive!

We must have spent thousands of pounds on our collection, but I think its worth it - to me flying is still romantic, and this is a nice way of preserving it!

Ebay are fine about selling uniform items , almost all if it is not 'current' uniform so it poses no security threat. Anyway i guess it would be far more dangerous to go to a fancy dress shop and hire a police uniform or a pilots uniform.

We still need a lot to complete our collection, so again if anyone has anything - please don’t take it to the charity shop ! lol ... drop me a PM!
