You are right, a friend of mine went to the latest MAM recruitment assessment centre, she was told (and it was repeated apparently) that MAM would not lead to a full time position with either MAM or Qf. That only those happy for casual employment should consider working for MAM.
It put her off, and she turned down a job offer.
I have also heard that Qf will be making some asian language speakers who are currently casual with MAM full-time next year.

Here is the latest news regarding Language Speakers within the Short Haul division, in relation to the Regional Flying Agreement and other news you may find useful to know;
Two key aspects of the agreement are the language allowance, and pre-allocation. A language allowance will be paid to Short Haul language badge holders. For full-time staff, this will initially be a fixed weekly amount, until IT changes are implemented which will ensure the allowance reflects the number of language trips operated. MAM casuals will be paid a fixed amount per language trip.
I Spoke to MAM today...and news is that there will be no training sesions in the near future...as QF have already had completed 11 training sessions in the last few months in preparation for the December period.
Fixed Term Flight Attendants currently on an 11 month contract now have the opportunity to apply to be a part of the London base.
In addition, they will be guaranteed a permanent full time Flight Attendant role with Qantas upon their return at the end of their London contract...they are loving it!!!!

I hope its not the case either. Otherwise it should've been included in the original email that was sent so as not to get the hopes up of every person that doesn't have a second language.

MAM Applicants Australia Wide!
Are you in the dark? Do you feel like a mushroom?
If so then listen up!!
Speaking to the QF cabin crew recruitment department this week (about a long haul thing) the nice lady told me that they are completley snowed under with work, and understafed, so its a case of they are working as fast as they can!
So people like me, who have done eveything but still havent heard anything yet, she said the files are there, they are just getting to them. So relax!
Persistant rumours advise of training re starting in January. So here is hoping for all of us!

Hi all!
Spoke to MAM today and was told that there will not be any training sessions for a while. I was also told once again that 11 training classes have already gone through for the christmas season.
I hope this is not the case though! jb_flyer...what do you think? I wonder if she told me this because she didnt want to put my hopes up in case the future training sessions you indicated might not go ahead for some reason???

Hey Oz!
You have probably heard right, as I was told by MAM that "there will not be any training classes in the near future (for a little while)".
Also, I know of Casual FA's who have been made unavailable by crewing on the days they have requested to be available. Maybe there is an excess of crew and there is no need for additional training classes for this reason at the moment.
Just my own thoughts.

What is MAM?
Hey everybody,
I'm new at this and I have no idea what everyone is talking about. It's very confusing to me. So I just want to know what exactly is MAM? Also, what is the difference between casual and fixed term? What do you do if you want to be a permanent flight attendant, reapply? Thanx and sorry for the questions!

Maurice Alexander Management's (MAM) Aviation Support Services has been chosen to provide Casual Flight Attendants to Qantas. MAM are now looking for people to join its operations in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane as MAM Casual Short Haul Flight Attendants for the Qantas account.
No worries FG100!
website is www.mam.net.au (sorry if already posted, it's a long thread!)
I have applied with them but heard nothing so far...
