Congrats!!!!!

Well done West4u!!!! Enjoy the excitment/stress of training. Look forward to flying with you, not that I'll know it's you unless you get West4u put on your name badge. Get the international sized wheelie bag, the domestic is too small.

Jb_flyer: Your turn next!!! My friend had her medical and did her security stuff this week then emailed MAM to ask when she could expect a date for the training class. Wei came back and said that QF has definately blocked Perth candidates for training in Melbourne and they would probably advise of a date in the next few days. This was Wednesday so hopefully early next week and the wait will be over. Take up knitting instead of clicking!

Good luck!

sezt83- brilliant news on your result!

luvflyin, my only concern to date is that I havent been contacted for a medical/ security clearance yet. But things can move quickly, so hope has not been given up yet!

I keep reminding myself its only been 15 days since my panel, and other people waited a month for the call up. So its still OK in my mind.

Knitting? There are only so many Qantas things that you can knit... Its invading my life! (Just kidding.... sad isnt it!)

Post Invited for MAM assessment

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to you all that have successfully made it in and best of luck to those who are still waiting. I'm sure your perseverance will eventually pay off. Hang in there!!!

I've registered my interest with MAM about 5 days ago and I received an e-mail from Wei yesterday advising me to attend an Assessment centre next weekend (23rd or 24th Oct) in Sydney. This is for stage one so it must be the group assessment.

I was wondering if someone can give me a rundown of what to expect. For example the type of questions they ask, tests or activities that we participate in etc... I have done a search on these forums before I posted this message to see if anyone has mentioned anything previously but I couldn't find any info on the topic.

Any information would be much appreciated. Once again thanks in advance and looking forward to hearing from you all!

Cheers,

RollzRoyce

MAM

Hi everyone

I got an e-mail yesterday asking me if I want to go to an assessment day on Saturday in MEL, and I think it will be their last one for a while, so I wrote back saying yes, but I dont have my first aid training which I am doing next Monday and Tuesday. I wrote asking if I could bring a reciept of my enrolement in the first aid as proof that I will have it next week. that was at 10:00am this morning, and still no reply.

The only thing that is worrying me is that I will have to fly in from HBA to attend the interview, so I want to know either way if I can go or not......

Was anyone in the same situation as I am, not having all the documents before they attended the assessment day?
I have always been meaning to do my first aid, but I didnt know they would contact me so quickly!!

Thanks Emma

You should be fine. If you have a receipt, then if they invite you for a panel interview at a later date you can take it then and show them......you realise that you will most likely have to do another flight there if you make it to the next stage. Unless the process has changed - panel interviews are not done on the same day as the first assessment.

Best of luck,

Raver

Talking Re assessment day

Hi Star you dont have to have your certificates at assessment day but as Raver said you will need them if you get called back for a panel they will want to see origanals and also take a copy of them. Best of luck to you ......

There have been rumours circulating that some MAM casuals will soon be made permanent, any truth to this yet?

yep its true

yes management and co from MAM are dangling the carrot at casuals who have been with MAM prior to 30 June 2004, and who have advised qf cc recruitment of their interest in being made permanent.

Only catch is those who want to apply must be on the new contract which requires casuals to give at least 12 days availability, or those on the contracts offered earlier this year or something like that.

the new set of permanents should be on line around feb next year, but as in the past they have dangled the carrot. Who knows what they will do.

If being made permanent is for you then go for it, many do not want to take it, as they like the idea of the flexibility of chosing when you work, not when told to

If you sign over to new rules ie one is general condt. which is 12 days av min.at least 2 3 day groups to cover horrors i guess max of 3 must work days nominated x qf ie 31/12 as eg.this together with all the new classes i cant see qf needing full time unless its for good will.hope you all can read this ok as i hate, as some of you may have read before typing. still a fab job for all those going for mam best of luck youll lov it..

Im a little, well, distressed tonight (peeved would be a better word)

I emailed MAM today to ask the progress of my application, and I got an answer back saying that because I applied with QF (For the fixed term role), that takes precedence over the MAM position, so basically I cant progress any further until QF either tells me im in or out.

So as I interviewed for QF, then MAM later, my application must be hung at the board level. Grrrr! Wish QF would make its mind up!

I decided I wont take the fixed term role anyway, so I went to StaffCV and withdrew my application. I also rang QF, got through to an internal HR department who refered me to Adecco in PER, who I contacted and asked that my application be withdrawn.

I dont know what else to do, I interviewed for the QF role only because I needed work, and didnt know MAM would be recruiting so soon. Never would I think that it would halt my MAM application.

My concern is that PER MAM casuals seem to be booked for training at the end of this month, and it appears that I may have missed the boat, this saddens me as I am so keen to get started.

Heres hoping that tomorrow will bring better news!
