Jal

Hello !!!

My name is Sébastien, I'm 24 year old and I'm French, currently working for CityJet in Paris Charles De Gaulle.

I'm interested in applying for JAL but I'd like to get some information about the company please :

- Is it possible to live in Paris and to commute everytime you have to fly from LHR ? On their website, it's written you get 10 days OFF per month, but do you get them altogether or do you get something like 5 days+5 days or 6 days+4 days ???
- How long are their layovers in general ?
- What is the salary for a brand new flight attendant ?
- What is the general atmosphere in the company and among the cabon crew ?
- How many European F/A's fly with the Japanese crew ?

Thanks for your help

Sébastien

No offense, but if you read the information carefully you will also notice that you must be willing to relocate to live within a 45 mile of radius of LHR.

Quite understandable, how are you suppose to get yourself there quickly if you happen to be on standby?

OK, but this is just theory...
ANA and BA also ask to relocate near London.
Some of my friends work for ANA and BA but still live in Paris !!!

Yes, but ANA and BA are not JAL, are they?

I don't know actually, but it sounds strange if they live in Paris and are based in London. What do they do when they are on standby and called out!?

I agree with Simply,

You MUST live within 45 minute it quite clearly states this on the application form, and I know because one of the first things they asked me was to re-allocate.

How can you commute from paris to london if you are on standby? doesn't make sense to me either.

By the way JAL is one of the best airlines to work for. go for it.

Friends of mine who worked for JAL at LHR lived in Dublin, Manchester and Paris - used to have them on my flights often. Obviously when on standby you would have to be within 45 mins of LHR, crew then stay in a b and b or at friends. Officially i think they gave the airline a UK address but just went home on days off. No real difference to going away on a break when on days off is it? I used to commute from Teesside when on both longhaul and shorthaul and had no problems.

That's what I thought !
People who live abroad stay in London for their stand by's... but you don't get stand by's every month, do you ?

Can someone give me an example of a typical roster with JAL ?

Well, it might work, but I don't think it's an option. How affordable is it to live at two places, once you only use when you are on standby which in the long run, won't be that often?

Sebichoo, I spoke with a girl from JAL I met some months ago and they mainly do the routes from Tokyo to Frankfurt and London.

Hi Simply !!

Are you sure she wasn't working for ANA ???
I know that ANA F/A's based in London only operate from Tokyo to London, Frankfurt and Paris
