Well, for a start, having worked for for GB for a while i wouldnt advise this airline but i guess it s a good start if you havent flown before.
But dont believe what they tell during the interview, they will tell you that you night stop in amazing places etc etc
In fact i didnt night stop much that much at all. Also you will be able to choose after a while between Gatwick or heathrow preference although in fact you will still be Gatwick based. People with Heathrow preference do night stop alot more but always in the same places, Marrakech or Casablanca. Also money wise it is much better to be Heathrow (due to night stops).
When i had my interview they presented the company as a family run airline with a family spirit. To be honnest people were not that nice, especially if you dont tell you never flown before.
As for the interview itself, be yourself and revise a bit your geography as there is test on general knowledge.

Hmmm... had mine around January 2003. Might have changed since.
First stage was a presentation about the company, question&answer time, finally a test on what has been said, i.e. study the company, fleet, destination etc before you go to the assessment and you'll feel more at ease.
Second stage was a maths test, no calculator, pretty straight forward.
Panel interview was 2:1 in the afternoon, very long (mine was over 1.5 hours), mostly customer service questions and other questions like "where do you see yourself in 2-5 year time?", "why do you want to be a cabin crew?", etc.
I was suprised to be interviewed by 2 staff that had nothing to do with the previous part of the recruitment, though I must admit it seems to be a normal procedure within BA.
Btw, they seem to like people with previous airport/flying experience as half the people who got to the final stage were already in the airline industry.

Well yes,
If you think you can "pretend" to be BA, dont do it!
I have lots of close friends that have worked for GB, and were very disallusioned by it.
Try mainline BA, or even the charters in October to get you started off.
Its not a back door route to BA, in fact its the opposite if anything.
The franchise agreement is in plave until 2008, and apparently then its unsure to wether it will continue.
Then you will work for "Cadogan Airways" or whatever they are called independently.
Does it sound so appealing now?!

Dont do it to yourself. You will not only lose your sanity, but also your general life away from work.
I f you want to work 6 days on 2 days off all year round, 6 sector 2 day trips to spain and portugal with 10 hours in a crap,stuck in the middle of nowhere (portugal) hotels for £80, its upto you.
I would do charter, much more fun,,chance of long haul maybe, and if you dont like it,its only a temp contract.
The only good thing about GB are the crews, nearly everyone hates it so you can at least have a laugh about how s*** it all is.

To be fair with GB, days were not as long as what i am doing now at BMI. And crewing being basically made up of a couple of people, they didnt mess you up as much. Same for roster changes, they were rather rare compared to Bmi.

As for the crew i met sme nasty piece of ****there . At least at BMI most crew are laid back and not so anal about the job. At least we know we work for a **** company and that we are all in the same boat whereas as GB people still like to pretend they are "almost" BA. Yeah right!!

i just asked some informations about the recruitment and i received some of you only bad comments.

Sounds like Astraeus , do you over on commission all of it not just 50%, and the people well (no comment), Surely GB AIRWAYS have to be better than Astraeus???

I don't think that gb are better then astreaus, all my friends that i have working for astreaus seem to enjoy them more then the ones that i with gb!!
I would seriously think before you decide to go and work for them, and it seems you will loose any social life, u have now

I agree with Baboy..Enay cannot expect to ask us guys, people who have been flying for several years with different airline what we think of an airline and be only positive about it.
In the case of GB, i have been honnest about what i though of my working experience there. Of course i am aware that what is good for someone is bad for someone else and that we are all different. But Enay should learn how to deal with people who do not share his opinions although i hardly see how he can have an opinion about GB as he has never flown before and even hasnt got a job with them!!

Hi, I have been working for GB for a fair few years now and I think it's a good company to work for. All the crew are really friendly. (of course you get the odd exception) Ok the money isn't fantastic and you do work quite hard. But surely is that not the case in most airlines now. In general the days go by having a laugh and when you do get a night stop you make the most of it! The grass isn't always greener!
