BA LHR Eurofleet Layovers

Hi,

What are the layovers at BA LHR Eurofleet like? What destinations in Europe do they tend to be at?

How long do you get on a layover?

Are they usually in the middle of a 3-4 day sector or something?

Thanks guys!

From LHR to most of the big citied in Europe(far too many to mention). With many of the 2 day trips basically what happens is you do a there and back first which is linked to a nighstop and then on day 2 return to LHR and do another linked there and back. There are nightstops where you might only get 1 linked there and back and some where you just do the nightstop, this could be as short as a split duty(basically a very short stop) or it could be a full 24 hours .We also do 3 day trips which consist of 2 seperate nightstops linked together and some 2 sector 3 day trips i.e Athens.Obviously the more sectors involved the less time you will get on your nighstop and as you can imagine in this day and age many of our trips are linked to a there and back either before or after or indeed both but we do still have some good trips where you do fly there, get off,go to hotel and enjoy the city.In actual fact the double linked nighstops are popular with a lot of people because of the allowances that they generate.I hope you can make some sense of the above and it's of some help.

Sounds a bit confusing!

Could you give me an example of a 3/4 day trip with a layover? (I guess 3/4 days is the usual trip length at BA??)

Cheers.

Hi there

As someone who has passed the selection process and been offered a job, this does also interest me! I have a vague idea of some of the trips through attending the presentation during the recruitment day I attended, but nerves somewhat clouded my memory of what was described.

I also seem to remember the presenter mentioning to our group that the rostering dept. aimed to give everyone about 75% of their flight requests which sounds too good to be true! Is it really like that? Our group was also told that Eurofleet crew can clear between £1300-1600/month depending on their roster; this also sounds too good to be true!

Could someone confirm these details as facts, lies or mere statistics!

We were also told that there was the possibility of occasional longhaul trips on the 767, which flies both European and selected longhaul flights. (Wouldn't that be nice!)

Best regards

sorry it didn't make too much sense but for example a 2 day trip linked either side might look like this...
LHR-BRU-LHR TURNAROUND LHR-TXL NIGHTSTOP TXL-LHR TURNAROUND LHR-AMS LHR.You may or may not get the there and backs before or after the nightstop and of course checkin times could be any time of the day.A 3 day trip could be something like LHR-CDG-LHR T/A LHR MAD N/S MAD LHR T/A LHR FCO N/S FCO LHR. A 3 day Athens checks in about 21 25 on day 1 and then you get a standover day in Athens and arrive back at about 1100 on day 3.
With regard to pecentages on bidding I think it's supposed to work out at about 60% of the bid you put in,there also seems to be an element of luck involved aswell, you can imagine that 2 and 3 day trips are quite popular with lots of people so that is where the luck comes into it,I personally don't bid for nighstops anymore so I seem to get my there and backs pretty much most of the time, so in that respect bidding for trips works for me.
To be honest I'm not to sure of the monthly salaries you could expect on the new contract payscales and I don't want to mislead you but the figures mentioned by AJ are also what I have heard.
As far as flying on the 767 on longhaul, well they do sometimes ask for volunteers to operate some longhaul routes but this happens very rarely and is on an adhoc basis basically you would still be doing your usual shorthaul stuff with the odd longhaul route thrown in but as I say it's rare and normally the longhaul 767 flights are operated by longhaul crews and the 76's on shorthaul are a different configuration.I hope this makes a bit more sense than my last post and wish you both good luck.
