A Few questions

Hey all

I'm hoping to become cabin crew soon, but im hoping to work/live in Manchester area mainly. Got a few questions, hopefully somebody out there might be able to give some answers to!

1. Are bmi recruiting for longhaul at the mo? if so, whats the best way of applying for it? start at LHR then move up?

2. What routes do Air Atlanta operate from MAN?

3. Do Virgin Atlantic have a crew base at MAN?

4. How can u apply for Mytravel lite? From mainline MYT or not? what requirements do they have?

5. What other airlines have bases at MAN, i can think of WW and the usual charter lot. Any more?

6. I know they aint based at MAN, but what requirements do Emerald have for the ATP out of LPL?

7. Is it true that Astraeus keep u on for the winter period too?

8. (Finally...) Another thread on here, says that BACx have a height limit of 5ft10. But thats for the ERJ 145, do u think that they would allow taller people for the RJ100?

Any answers to any questions, much appreciated! Cheers and happy chatting!!

BMI dont usually recruit for long haul from NE courses. Its awarded on service/seniority. LHR is the only base to start from really!

2. What routes do Air Atlanta operate from MAN?

Not sure!

3. Do Virgin Atlantic have a crew base at MAN?

No, ONly LHR or LGW, they mostly recruit for dual base now.

4. How can u apply for Mytravel lite? From mainline MYT or not? what requirements do they have?

Call the MYT recruitment line and apply online from the website at :- www.mytravelairways-careers.co.uk
MYT is a great company, but why not try for mainline in October? If you are over 19 and apply for MAN/LGW you may have a chance of long haul in your first season.

5. What other airlines have bases at MAN, i can think of WW and the usual charter lot. Any more?

TCX, FCA, AEU, XLA

6. I know they aint based at MAN, but what requirements do Emerald have for the ATP out of LPL?

No idea!

7. Is it true that Astraeus keep u on for the winter period too?

Only ifyou meettheir rather bizzare main crew stereotype, and obviously subject to "operational requirements"

8. (Finally...) Another thread on here, says that BACx have a height limit of 5ft10. But thats for the ERJ 145, do u think that they would allow taller people for the RJ100?

I am told they do not, the height restriction is stipulated for a reason.
But again, why go subsidary/franchise? Just apply to mainline BA. They are not a backdoor entry to BA by any means.

Hi EZYboy,

MyLite do not employ Mylite only crew we are all MYT crew, we do both lite and charter, the mixture of doing both is great!!!!

As Sammy has said MYT are a great company to work for, don't let all the press put you off, (I'm not just saying MYT are great cos I work for them!)

Virgin as far as I know don't have crew based out of MAN they use LHR and LGW crew, BMI are recruiting for mainline but at LHR, not sure how you get to MAN, - internal transfer maybe??

Have you tried http://www.aviationjobsearch.com they have loads of Crew jobs on there plus many others!!!

Good Luck!!!

Hi! What we were told is that they are recruting a few people for longhaul internally and then most of the others will be recruited from outside. You'd have a much better chance at getting the job then current bmi staff as we are so desperate for staff, that they are not letting us transfer as we would not have enough staff at lhr, gla e.t.c.
Hope that helps?

Virgin do have crew based in man but you to have been lgw/lhr crew, to apply as and when is needed to transfer.

Emerald crew have to have previous cabin crew experience.
