Thumbs up SIA & MAS Cabin Crew

Dear people,

I havent seen anything written on SIA or MAS cabin crew over this discussion board. This is because i am highly interested in joining either these two airlines.

I am a graduate in bachleor of applied science. IS it worth joining as a cabin crew for any airlines? How well does these two major airlines pay? What are the salaries like?

Can anyone who is working for MAS or SIA please tell me...

HOw do i apply for the position or flight steward with SIA as i am a malaysian citizenship?

Any discussions on SIA and MAS cabin crew are welcome...

Cheers!!!

Hi there Aloyscious,

MH just had their interview for female CC about a week ago,
however, they gonna have another interview for male CC very soon. Just keep on checking with the local newspaper or you can visit their website for more informtion. The same thing with SQ as well and they do recruit Malaysian but to be base in SIN.
I use to fly with MH in the early nineties and the basic salary was very low, however they have increase the $$$ over the past few years (still i found it too low). Basically, you only survive on your allowances, but once you been upgrade to INTL, then it's not too bad. But if you want to make more money, you should look into joining Mid East airlines eg Emirates, Gulf..

I hope this help, but if you need more info, let me know.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply. One thing for SIA is that they dont hire flight steward that often and certainly not at this moment. For MAS, if get hired, they dont do internationally for new flight attendants immediately...so perhaps have to wait for one year or two? What is the basic salary for MAS? and with allowance added, how much does one get currently??? do u know??? please tell me roughly....

What middle east airlines do u suggest and what are their basic salary and what is the roughly total salary???
by the way, what are you doing now?? how lkong did you work as a flight attendant?

Thanks for your info!!!

At least you need to fly on domestic and regional sectors for about a year or two before being upgraded to international flt. But all this depends on your employment record as they will based you on your attendance and your medical leave record. And as for basic salary i think it would be around RM800 - RM900 excluding your flying and overnite allowances. When i started with MH, my basic was only a mere RM475. And also bear in mind that you won't get your overnite allowances on the spot when you check in into hotel. The company will accumulate your allowance and you only receive it at the end of month. In other words, you have to spend your money first... well.. i only lasted there for three years and went to work with Ansett Australia till their closure of base in KUL. Like i said, if you want to earn more, apply for Emirates. You can easily earn not less than RM5000++ per month. Just wait till they start recruiting again which i am going to try it too. Wouldn't want to go back to MH..
