Flight Line

A freind of mine has got a bit of a problem you guys and gals maybe able to help him with.

He recently was invited along to an interview with Flightline Ltd.
he survived the group interview and made it through to the second stage for a 2-1 interview.
During this interview he was givern so many compliments and encouragdement. He was advised that they would let him have Aug bank holiday off and really made him relaxed and extreamly confident that he was succesfull.
he apparently even commented on how nice they were so much so that it wasnt like an interview but like chatting to freinds.

Well few days later he recives a letter from them telling him sorry, bye and goodluck!!!! no more no less.......

Fair enough but then he hears that all bar one FEMALE candidates where succesful and even the ones that didnt make it to the second stage were being reinvited back for second interviews.......BUT no MALE candidates where succesful or even invited back and apparently there where some excellent
candidates.

A comment has now been made that this maybe due to a lot of contract work requiring only FEMALE crew and that MALE crew are not wanted.
Is this like the good old days of the middle east airlines???

All I know is he is really upset he feels like they have fooled him or interviewed him for formality. I can understand especialy when they made him wait till last to be seen after a two hour wait.

Im wondering if anyone else has come across this and do you have anything you think he should do?

Thanks guys and gals, and ill let him know what you all think.

Cheers

If interviewing for certain contracts only i.e. female crews only, why invite him along for an interview? I suspect he came across too nice for his own liking. What contracts are Fliteline currently covering that requires FEMALE crew only? I suspect none. His face sadly didn't fit post interview......

not just girl crew

I am currently working with Flightline out of Manchester, and yes we do have some fab male cabin crew, they are a great company to work for and they look after there staff. Maybe your freind was not good enough on this occasion. We currently have male no1 and no2 and we have a great base at Manchester. And no there is no policy for girl crew only as that would be sexist ? I wish your freind luck for his future and sorry we could not help out this time.

Positive vibes from the crew that are fortunate enough to work for flightline, males & females.......
There is however rumours in the old boy network (and from sources within) that they do favour Female cabin crew as alot of their high yield work is private/corporate/VIP and as such needs a "glamour" touch.

Hope your friend is not too disheartened as there are plenty more openings for the right calibre of person elsewhere.

it sounds strange....I' ve been flying for Flightline in 1998-99 and we were both male and female (from Italy only female, but only cos my company had only female cabin crew, so 16 of us were seconded to flightline......) but people inside were both male & female! really a lot of male, expecially this period that for safety and security reasons (enhanced doors, bodyguards, and terrorism threat is reccomandable to have at least 1 male cabin crew! I don't know if they changed policy (hope not) so, male not admitted should ask reasons to the company...if they decide all female cabin crew....sorry nothing to do, otherwise, ck why they have been rejected! call Flightline and ask explanations!! good luck to everyone!!!!!

Unhappy

Sorry to hear your friend was not successfull. I can't answer why he did not make it through to a job but I can assure you that Flightline do not operate any policy that favours one sex over another.
It is true that on occasions certain VIP customers, like football teams for e.g, do ask for female cabin crew. These occasions are few and far between compared to the majority of work. They can be covered easlily by exsisting ratios and in no way would influence the desicsion of employment.

For further proof track down a Flightline Engineer. They all complain there are too many male cabin crew employed!!
