air scotland interview (what they like?)

Hi there,

I sent my CV off to air scotland around 2 months ago.

To some suprise i had a message on my voice mail asking me to attend an interview this week.

Ive recently been promoted at work, so im unsure if i should take up the oppertunity.

I know about Air-Scotlands mess up with Electra etc, now there with Air Holland, can anyone express what the airline is like ?

What is the airline like to work for ? Is the pay ok?

Since i haven't attended an interview with an airline before is there any specific questions that gets asked ?

My main question is, can i attend the interview, but not accept the job if i pass? I obviously have to think longer about my prospects in my current job, and the prospects in an airline, i wish to work for an airline, but just got promoted this week, so you can see how its bad timing, id jump at this oppertunity if i hadn't been promoted.

But im excited at the oppertunity being given to me

Went for an interview back in Jan with Air Scotland for a base in NCL - was offered Assistant Purser (I only applied for Jnr Crew but they said with my experience i could do assistant purser! IVE ONLY BEEN FLYING A YEAR!!!!)

I dont feel safe doing it, can u imagine the rest of the crew/pax if they found out their assistant purser is 21 with under a years experience flying!!

Sounds a didgy outfit.... all greek rules and regulations....so forget your UK minimun rest of about 11 hours average, greek rules are 7hrs so im led to believe....feel free to correct me.

I dont think they have ties with air holland anymore - apart from thr fact air holland no longer exsist..... its Greece Airways the 757's are leased from....altho ive seen one knocking around in half Thomas Cook colours.... dunno if its leased or purchased and just not painted yet!!!

Good luk tho mate..... im sure you'll get it!!! just remember - we all have to start somewhere, and if it isnt your 1st flyin job.... well at least ur back flyin!!

From what i can remember about the wages.... it wasnt brill and the one thing that god me was NO FLIGHT PAY!!! I work for MYT, they are gud to me... and they are brilliant payers! so would be a fool to not go back this summer!

ive got a job just now....thats the part that could hold me back

I was recently promoted to marketing executive in a company, but i dont wish to work in offices all my life, ive been saving and paying for flying training on SEPs its just a matter of time to gain experiance and then go onto MEP's then do all the other requirements to get me a frozen atpl, so i want into the business just now to gain experiance.

Im also hoping the busy life style will help me save money in my bank

set55 - A-S have a leased 757-200 :-)

Air Scotia

After last years debacle with another Greek Airline I am wondering why anyone is bothering at all?

Stick at your present Job until something better comes along. And don't waste your time with any Summer Charters from GLA if you have a permanent job @ the moment as you will only be laid off in November despite the Crap they tell you at these interviews. I cant believe people are still trying to be Cabin Crew these days anyway as the pay is rubbish.

As far as I am aware, all Air Scotland Cabin Crew are offered perminent contracts. Also I believe it is company policy at Ryanair to offer crew with 1 years experience a purser's position. I have flown with a few people who were pursers with Ryanair at 20 or 21. As for the Greek flight time limitations.....I think you will find that the limits are slightly more restrictive than the UK limits, and 12 hours is std min rest.
