I will begin the 4 april in Manchester airport as cabin crew with Monarch Airlines.
The 22 march i have the typical assesment day.Now I am planning to stay till wednesday looking a room near MAN airport.

I´m in Spain so please...i need help!!!If someone has a friend offering a room, have a flat,a web,...doesn´t matter I need only addresses of flats&appartments&rooms to see next week.

Thanks in advance.

I have one question more:

Dios Mio!

Erio Que haces!!!

I feel so sorry for you. Monarch treat their staff appallingly, especially at Manchester, which is known to be the strictest base.
Assessed on every flight, by tragic no2's who have been there for decades and are only a 2! The no'1's think they are gods, and take great pleasure in claiming their meals first! Bless! the perks!!

Good luck! you'll need it!

monarch estricto

¡gracias por el consejo!

but don´t worry.i am happy to change for a few months or maybe days to "madchester".If monarch@manchester is the worst and they finally decide finish my contract:ok,i will accept!if they think i am a slave...ok too!i will finish when i want.

i have done a lot of interviews in the uk and always the airlines prefer people with a very basic level, perhaps poor-very poor.in my 5th interview i decided act as a dummy and voilà,now I have a job.It is incredible!

ok maybe my english is not the best but if this kind of airlines are interested in people without knowledges of languages, general culture,...better for them. For me Monarch is another experience in my life.If i finish soon i will come back to my home and it will begin to search a different job.

I would like to meet english people,a country,a culture,...if work in monarch is so bad i am sure later i will have great stories to tell us.

thanks a lot for your message!

the assessment system at monarch is abysmal. assessed on every flight- most assesments are written by the 1 or 2 before the pax have even boarded becasue they cant be bothered having to write upto 2 or 3 every single flight.. and the same stuff is written on each one. and getting a permanent contract is supposed to be based on whats written in these assesments but it really isnt. there are one or two seniors that do fill them in properly but it doesnt get you anywhere and then there are the over zealous ones, who feel they can give you a written assessement on your cabin service and how you interacted with pax when they operated a different end of the a/c than you and didnt even go on a trolley with you.

Having read worldwidelad's personal opinion on working for Monarch, I feel compelled to reply and offer a different view. I have worked for Monarch for ten years and have rarely had cause to complain. Standards are high but if you work hard and respect the people that you work with whatever their rank you will probably do well and get a permanent contract if there are any available. The only number twos that have been in the same position for 'decades' are the ones that choose to remain so not wanting the additional responsability of being a number one. The majority of number ones are friendly and approachable and want to help and as for choosing their meals first, this is merely courtesy.

re black diamond, which base do you work from,, i too worked out of manchester and yes did give people respect but if your face doesnt fit then you dont get on within the company. I flew with an instructor who then took me into the office to tell me how good i was and how impressed she was with my work and that i would have no problem getting a contract and then lo and behold i didnt get one. why didnt i get one, i dont know, try asking luton or cc manager- its easier getting blood from a stone.

re the number two not wanting to be a 1- the one that worldwidelad is referring to really really does want to be a 1- desperately.

i had a lot of repect for monarch until they let me down badly at the end of last season ( i still do have a lot of respect for some trainers, 1's and 2's who have taught me to an excellent standards)and have now moved to another airline
Like in any firm in any line of work, the majority of staff at monarch are good, but then there are the bad few, and its these that leave the bad taste.

Monarch is shocking at Man I left to work for an Airline that treats staff the way thay should be treated .......
Senior crew at Man dont know there ass from there elbow ,they write assesments a week after they have flown with junior crew and cant even remember what you look like !!!!!
Obviously you will come accross the odd one or two who you will like, but senoirs on the 320 fleet are bitter and twisted as they get no long hall (Bless)
As a spanish speaker you will go on the 320 so expect five flights a week to ALC ,AGP,BCN,TFS
It will be an experience for you thats for sure .......

Good luck you are gona need it !!!!

My responce is dont moan about it for six and seven years and make eveyone elses life hell at work ,they wana get off there ass and go to an airline who offer long hall to all crew .

Black Diamond, Are you being paid by Monarch to write this??

The company for which I work for now, has no hierarchy, there's no difference between main crew, and seniors, I am never referred to as a junior, and the word "temporary junior" is not used for those on temporary contracts.

Purser's offer meals to main crew first, they look after us well, getting us water and making our crew rest area as comfortable as possible, ulitmately making a happy working environment for all, as we work hard for our purser's.

Monarch strives to be like what they think the professional airlines are like, but they really don't have a clue. I know several number 2's who are dying to be no'1 's but they have waited 9 years to become just a 2!!!

People should be promoted because of skill, not just because "their time has finally arrived"

Every time I meet ex monarch staff, I share in their jubilation at having escaped that hideous excuse for a company!

Monarch Scheduled..... scheduled seat pitch.... my ass!!!!

hear hear

all i can say is hear hear wwl and san jose!!!!!!!
i was on 320 fleet and didnt mind, was happy to fly- but all you hear is oh ***** got rostered a 330 course- ive been here longer i should be first or im better i should be first - if long haul is the be all and end all then go to a long haul airline

i am never ever referred to as a 'temp' or even worse'temp junior' my new airline call us main crew- they dont distinguish between temps and permanent.

at monarch they even pay you on a different date to permanent crew and your staff number also reflects you are not permanent- so when some seniors check in, the moans of- 'oh theres 3 temps on' can be heard- jsut because your'e a temp doesnt make you any worse than anyone else. one senior even has the gall to say-'get the temp to do it' and it doesnt matter if you are stood right next to them- the person doesnt even have the manners to have a quick glance at your name badge and call you by name- if temp wont do, then call you by your number that day- rude.

i definately feel im better off out of monarch. i dont dread going in some days in case there is a certain seniors name on the crew list(words cannot describe the rudeness and bullying tactics of this senior) and too have seniors who are happy to help out is the galley or set up trolleys is a refreshing change!!

Bgirl why dont you name and shame ......after all who do they think they are !!!!
I would also like to add on several occasions the base manager has approached members of junior crew to name senoirs who cause upset ,why doesnt he get his SEP manual out and start flying himself .I think its shocking he doesnt fly ,"go on black dimond stick up for him defend his position" .

Also as im on a role whats with the trainers unaproachable springs to mind ......they sit in that office all day and look down on you for asking for a crew list .
Ive seen happier looking dead fish in a fish market .
