Exclamation BA...Do I need to worry?

I have just been reading some stuff about BA and their restructuring plans on other pprune forums and I am a little concerned?!

After many years of flying, atlast I have been offered a job as CC with BA at SH LGW. I have handed in resignation at my current airline but talk of SH LGW is not very positive!

Any advice from BA guys out there?

Also does anyone know how the rostering system works at BA SH LGW? I am going to commute???????

SH

BA SH at LGW & LHR doesnt look good to be honest, if BA could get shut of it and just concentrate on LH beleive me they would.

You would be better off with LHR rather than LGW as contracts are different also.

You can double your salary at LHR if not more but not so great at LGW but your basics are now all the same.

ba

hi,

It would never be poss for ba to do a LH only program as they need the SH routes to feed LH.

Fair enough SH isn't doing that good at the mo due to the low cost airlines but we will soon see fares go up as they come into line with this new compensation thingy that the EU brought in and ba will be back in the market.

A lot of people on this site slate ba and its all doom and gloom. I've been with them a short time and its nothing like that. I'm certrainly not worried about job security.

It may not be as it was back in the days as i am told on every trip but if your looking for long trips away you should look at the likes of monarch and other charter airlines but they have a very different style of working!

Join ba, have a good time and feel proud when people ask who do you work for!

Feed

We dont use Sh to feed LH these days as you will discover now being part of the BA network, BA is one of the best companies to work for they are unionised etc and lots are done for its employee's.
There is a fair bit of doom and gloome but dont know of an airline that isnt that way to be honest.

What planet are you from? Obviously you never bother to look at the large number of pax annotated as transfers on the PIL.

s/h doesn't feed l/h,maybe not as much as in the past but have a look at the passenger list on a shorthaul flight and see the number of connections to longhaul some of our passengers have.i think our longhaul flights are still fairly well fed by shorthaul and don't forget the domestic flights, most people in the uk who fly on longhaul b.a services do so out of london.

carnage matey
yes exactly, couldn't agree with you more.
where do some people who post on here get their info' from and do they work for b.a at all.

Rumours!

I am Eurofleet Gatwick crew... So those of you that arent.. Pls sit down!

I cant believe the rubbish that people write when they obviously have no clue!

I joined BA LGW a number of years ago. The number of sectors we do has risen and we do work hard. But we see that reflected in our pay cheques each month! Easily £1300 at least!

We have excellent crew and although we are working especially hard due to being under crewed at the moment, we are a happy lot. We're still here.. so it cant be that bad!

Part of the reason we're under crewed is because SO many of out crew have transfered to LHR... So those of you that say LGW doenst feed LHR really dont know a thing! They have recruited directly into LHR because we cant afford to lose any more crew at LGW at the present time... But transfers will always be available, as long as you have completed 2 years service.

I think that its quite hard to work S/H LGW and commute, although I do know a few crw that do it. We have a bidding system which allows us to request what sort of work we want, i.e. 3/4 day trips or there-and-backs! So its ideal to match your work life with your home life.

Those of us who work for BA are very proud to work for the "WORLDS FAVOURITE AIRLINE"!! Even if we are at LGW S/H... But we have chosen to do that.. I personally would hate to work from LHR... I'm completely content where I am!
