Nope!
Although I do know that some QF shortlisters have had call from MAM - which I think is rude! If we had wanted to be employed by MAM we would've applied!!! I suppose it would suit some though.
I have a bad feeling though that the shortlist will go nowhere, however i am hoping that perhaps even the LCC may use the shortlist and hopefully full time initally?!
Anyone else with any news?

Sorry folks but I'm going to say something that may not make QF shortlisters particularly happy.

Whilst I understand and sympathise with the fact that QF shortlisters have been on hold for many months (some more than a year) I think things have gone from the sublime to the ridiculous now.

Cart_tart I am not sure if perhaps I read your post wrongly, but I understand that you said that someone was on the QF shortlist who was contacted by MAM, I assume to be offered employment or to be offered to wait on the MAM shortlist. You then said (quote) "If we had wanted to be employed by MAM we would've applied!!!".

In the very next paragraph you go on to say (quote) "perhaps even the LCC may use the shortlist..". So you want the QF shortlist to be transferred over to a completely different airline but not to MAM? This makes no sense at all! I think you want your cake and eat it too

The LCC is an entirely new airline, it is not Qantas. It is a QF subsidiary, just like it's other subsidiaries. If you want to work at the LCC then when applications come up apply for them! They may have different requirements to QF, and different interview procedures, who knows? Time will tell.

Good luck in your quest.

I doubt that there will be any word soon Kaka - obviously short haul will not be taking on staff and with the number of short haul to long haul transfers increasing, I suspect we'll be on the waiting list for quite some time.

Is ok I guess, better than not being on the list at all!

QF Shortlisters

I checked the Qantas website yest. The F/A employment page is currently accepting application for positions in SYD, MEL and PER!!!!!!! What is going on???? Why is QF accepting further applications when there is a surplus of Shortlisters????

SydGirl - I knew someone would pick me up on that...didn't explain myself clearly enough! I was trying to hurry before I had to go to work!
The bottom line is that I don't want to be employed as a casual. I'm currently full time with the link in Perth (NJS) & I've been around long enough to be earning great money. I couldn't afford to go casual. If I'd been happy to take casual I would've applied to MAM. I didn't. I applied to QF for fixed term, perm part time. I realise the LCC is an entirely different ball game, but I'm hoping they might offer some full time employment initally. However I think they might come up casual too if what dixon has been saying lately is true! I need a change - not from flying ( I LOVE it!) but from the type of flying. Regional in WA gets old after nearly 5 yrs! I'd like different destinations, different pax, & esp different a/c. I've had enough fume incidents on that bloody 146 to start seriously worrying about the health ramifications!
So if anyone knows anything about shortlist prospects, PLEASE let us know!!
xx

I have been on the long haul short list since september 2002. I just received a call last week regarding a `re-interview' , where we meet for an informal chat ( I'm aware this happened recently with MAM shortlisters too.).

Hope this helps...I'm not holding my breath but at least they still have the list!

Hi Guys!!!

I've been on the shortlist coming up a year on Feb and it is hard to read negative posts in regards us QF shortlisters, but what can you do???? Hopefully they just keep extending our shortlist positions until we're used????? Plus, get ready to maybe apply separately to the LCC, hopefully they take on external applicants as well as the Impulse crew if they win the bid? Things seem to be on the negative side for Qantas shorlisters, so maybe it is time to focus on a different airline/s, or if that is not your cup of tea, maybe have a think about your second career choice? By all means don't give up on flying, be persistent, but yes sometimes it does seem as if QF are just mucking everyone around and they probably are, but again what can you do, apply to other airlines and keep applying and hopefully something good comes out of it???

Good luck everyone!

That application thing on the QF website has been up since I applied in November last year.

I think the only thing us shortlisters can do is just apply to other airlines if we're not already in the business, while we wait for them to call us from the list. It's better being on the short list than not being on it, so at least that's something to be positive about!

Had a call from QF HR this afternoon letting me know that unfortunately QF will not be recruiting full time for a long time however she asked if I had heard of MAM, which i had and she asked me if I would be interested in a casual position through MAM based in Perth? My heart just about jumped out of my chest!!!!!!! She said it would be to start in January, however it is not definate as they are still waiting to hear back from Resource Planning as to if the people are definately needed in Perth. She said they are looking for about ten people. As you would, I told her i would be more than happy and thought it was fantastic! She said it may take a couple of weeks to get more info. She is apparently going to email me something to sign and send back to her. SO FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I hope some other QF shortlisters have had this little bit of good news too???? Look forward to more info!

good luck

Ozcabin crew,

In on the shortlist for QF since Sep last year.
I got the same phone call from QF a few weeks ago.
and she said that trainning will be starting on 28th Nov.

My answer was ,,, its my passion to become a flight attendant but its my wish to work for QF.(not for MAM)

Yes,I had to turn them down....

Well, I guess thats it for me....

good luck everyone!

Are they calling all of the QF shortlisters informing them of this, or are they putting the people who they want to fill the positions forward to MAM so MAM can approve them? I've got no idea, just wait and see I guess?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Me too Kaka. I had to turn them down, cause I don't think being a MAM casual would be the kind of flying/lifestyle I'm looking for, plus I've been offered a full time position with British Airways, and start training with them on the 29th, which I think will be much more secure than being a MAM casual.

It did hurt having to say no though, and I stressed to her that it was what I really wanted to do, but as you said, I want to work for QF, not MAM.

Do you think it will hurt our chances when QF actually do recruit? If it's not gonna be for quite some time, then I'm probably gonna be established in BA already anyway, and won't want to move.

Well, we shall see how things turn out, and GOOD LUCK Ozcabincrew!!!!!!!

You are correct in saying the above, i am sure you will enjoy i have a few good friends flying for BA now for awhile and they are enjoying every minute of it. One of them just got back from the Bahamas/Cayman Islands, hows that for a week trip? Hehehe

The job will be enjoyable if you make it so

Good Luck with the training

Regards
