SQ Captain Accused of Groping 'Singapore Girl' Stewardess

And he's not running for governor...

SIA stewardess says she was molested on flight

By Rebecca Lee

A SINGAPORE Airlines stewardess has complained that a company pilot molested her while they were on board a flight to Amsterdam.

Sources said the incident happened at the end of August.

The pilot involved is said to be a captain and a Canadian, who was flying as a passenger to the Netherlands' capital.

He was sitting in the economy-class cabin and allegedly touched a junior stewardess on the chest.

The stewardess was on duty.

She told the inflight supervisor who, along with the captain who was piloting the plane, made a police report when they touched down in Amsterdam.

SIA yesterday confirmed that such an incident has been reported to the company but did not confirm the details

Spokesman Rick Clements said: 'An incident was reported by one of our stewardesses and is the subject of an internal investigation.

'The company takes all such allegations seriously and is investigating the matter. If the allegation is proven, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken.'

He would not elaborate on the investigation, but The Straits Times understands that as this case involves a captain, it will be handled by SIA's senior management.

A disciplinary inquiry is believed to be scheduled for the end of this month.

At this inquiry, accuser and accused will give their accounts of what happened, and witnesses will be called to give evidence.

A senior SIA pilot said: 'I was shocked to hear this. This is not a common occurrence.'

"A senior SIA pilot said: 'I was shocked to hear this. This is not a common occurrence.' "

Funny but there is one very body-oderish SIA Senior Captain of British Origin who cannot stop leering at every female that he encounters. Are you sure it wasn't him? Cringe dialogue too.

Suspicions Confirmed

This story confirms the suspicions that I have held during almost all of my 12 years as being a trolley dolly.

Most pilots are ignorant of good social etiquette, and complete pigs when a pretty woman is around.

And now those pigs are rallying to the defense of one of there own for no reason except that he is one of the brotherhood.

Did anyone think that he might be actually wrong??????

What do you mean by "brotherhood"??

You're not implying there is a nest of knuckle crushers protecting their own at SIA are you??

Are you suggesting that flying economy class exonerates the captain for his behaviour?

Do all Americans suffer from a lack of ironic humour

Here's an earlier SQ groping incident that resulted in hard time and a caning:

Airplane Molester Gets Jail and Cane in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Jan 31 [2001] (Reuters) - An Indian man faces three strokes of the cane and a year in a Singapore jail after being convicted of groping a woman on an airplane while she slept.

Swarup Das's claim that he was asleep when he accidentally touched the woman was dismissed by Judge Hoo Sheau Peng as "hard to believe," the Straits Times newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old computer engineer was seated beside the woman on a Singapore Airlines flight from San Francisco to Singapore on September 8 last year.

The woman covered herself with a blanket before dozing off, but was awakened by Das's right hand resting on her groin.

She pushed his hand back thinking it was an accident, only to be woken 30 minutes later when she felt his fingers slipping into her underwear. She flung his hand away and informed the cabin crew of the incident.

Das was sentenced on Tuesday and was appealing against it. The court was not immediately available for comment.

DSR10:

A) Not American.

B) Have brilliant sense of humour. You show me where the irony is in sexual harrasment, or how it can be justified by being "made" to sit in economy class, and I'll happily laugh my *********** off.

Oh the hilarity.

Incidentally, how anyone can feel horny in economy class is way beyond me.

I think the Gyppo was using a form of humour known as 'irony'. It's delivered by saying something which one clearly does not believe such as: "Geez! You're the roughest lookin' cabin crew I've ever seen!"
No, wait, that isn't a very good example

Surprised there aren't more cases.
In SIA, a lewd joke with even the hint of a four letter word is considered sexual harrassment by most of the girls, that's if they understand it in the first place.
They may LOOK nice, but thats about it.

Surprised she had something big enough for him to grab!

Kay-M and davethelimey. You both clearly fail to understand the subtlety of the English Language and my obvious dig at SIA!!!

Basil Yes As you say irony is lost on some people.

I doubt very much if this incident is as reported. Some of the SQ Girls are hyper sensitive and one only has to brush past them in error and they cry rape. Lets wait for the full facts which will be difficult perhaps to come out as it may be a case of his word against hers.

Sorry to interfere in this interesting thread, but may I ask how you find the time to fly your aircrafts and pamper us cattle with all this groping, hands in underwear, lewd remarks and smelly-pilots bashing going on? . Luckily, I stick to European airlines, where I have yet to find smelly pilots, unfriendly cabin staff or uncouth passsengers (have not had the dubious privilege of flying in the company of british football fans or Coldstream Guards, though )

Just a thought.

If he was the operating Captain, not the deadheading Captain, would he have got away with it, considering he's in charge of the ship etc., etc?

If he was the operating captain, she may have been groping him!
Most SIA pilots, especially the `ang moh ones` (cauacasian), find they have much greater value ie, they are much more desirable, to the stewardesses (mainly the junior ones) than they would be to their own race, and as such wouldn`t normally have any trouble finding someone to play with when they are operating. (not necessarily to play with while they are operating!).
They also get away with more than a little `groping` due to the fact that the junior stewardesses feel that it is their own jobs that would be at risk if they were to complain.
Maybe this captain, after sitting in economy and maybe consuming a few ales, forgot that he appeared to be a mere mortal in his civvies, and assumed he had the same `pulling power` and/or `immunity` he normally has in uniform.

Say, that sounds like real fun!!

Might put in resume to SIA. Second thoughts, if I was accepted, by the time I made Captain I would be too old.

Actually I think I'm too old now.

I deeply wonder about some of the posts above. Some of you can detect the difference between humour and sarcasm, from the end of your nose.

Others of you are obviously bigotted, and have problems with stereotypes.

Others haven't heard of innocent until proven guilty.
