Frankly, I've always been surprised that more SQ trolley dolleys didn't get groped more often. After all, the whole advertisng image of SQ is the lissome 'Singapore Girl' with her 'come on' eye contact and her glistening smile. Lets face it...the whole SQ advertising pitch is blatantly based round the male sexual urge.

Having flown on SQ quite often (often having been starved of female company for a month in some God-forsaken oil-field dump) I find the temptation, having had a couple of drinks and some slim and silk-clad thigh brushes my fore-arm, to run my hand up its firm young bottom.........oh stopit stopit.

It's the same old problem though isn't it. The female half of the population have absolutely no conception of the shere power of the male sexual drive.

I think, to some extent, the Muslims have the right idea. Just cover yoursleves with a black Burqua, dears, and stop bothering us.

Cool

Check with Nick Leeson....he has one or two things to say about the Singapore Girl, after mooning a couple outside Harry's Bar in Boat Quay. Suffice it to say, it did NOT go down well at all, and he found himself in the slammer, not for finacial irregularities either...at least not at that time.!!
I doubt if it would have the same impact in any Meditteranean seaside resort....would almost be expected. However, I agree, touching one is a no no...that's over the line.

Cool

Lewd comments, inappropriate contact, unpleasant whiffiness...yup, encountered all of these a few times when in close proximity (professionally) to Cabin Crew...let's not be mean and award all these nice characteristics to Flight Deck alone! (Off for a shower, now)

Unhappy Be sad without...

*trying to imagine the industry without paralytic drunkeness, groping, orgies, general debauchery, profanity, insubordination, theft of inflight stores, duty free racketeering and harassment*

If you happen to know an attractive asian female cabin crew in SQ or MAS, ask her how often she's been groped by a 'local' captain.

The answer is usually (if she dare admit it to you) "...all the time".

And why do they put up with it?

Well the fact is that if they dare to make such an accusation against a local skipper the easiest solution for their management is....fire her! She's expendable...he isn't (in their world view).

Womens rights? Don't make me laugh!
The only reason this one hit the headlines is the man is a 'gwailo' and therefore suspect (and expendable) in the eyes of locals.

Perhaps he rubbed somebody up the wrong way on this flight (and I don't mean physically!). Perhaps he didn't take being shoved down the back too well and was being an asshole. But it just seems too easy to hang this guy, given what usually happens.

If its true that he is just a groper then he derves his punishment and I'll eat my words. But having seen this kind of behaviour get ignored before I'm curious as to why its suddenly worthy of newspaper reports and police interviews.

Of course non of these shrinking violets would dream of gropeing a guy when she wanted to get in his wallet or pants. The difference is that a guy would never complain unless she was a dog - tranny or granny.

It is understandable that some pilots do find it hard to socialize in a way that is deemed acceptable by social norms in most civilized bars and clubs. This is understandable as pilot training must be hard, and consumes 24 hours a day for those people who want to enter that walk of life. That 24 hour dedication needed to become a pilot takes up the time that most of us normal people use to learn social interaction, the art of conversation, and how to actually talk about something besides ourselves.

This can be the only explaination for the pig ignorant, self centred attitude that 70-80% of the pilots I used to work with.

On the other hand, the conversations with those afore mentioned pilots is riveting if you want to talk about their favorite subject (themselves).

Overhead in a bar on a stopover:

Pilot "That's enough talking about me, let's talk about you."

Stewardess: "Oh that would be nice."

Pilot: "What do you think about me!!!"

Stabilised approached by Moderator?

In view of the fact that my moderate early post was deleted from this thread I am inclined to the view that the Moderator of the Forum should call a go-around before the machine hits the rising ground of political correctness ............

We'll make the moderating decisions, thank you very much, and there is a case to answer in this thread, so it stays here under watch. However, don't even THINK about naming any names in this case until they are public domain, that's my main concern on this thread. I can't recall seeing your post IP, and I don't think any of us from the Dark Side deleted it.. we tend not to delete unless what we see is utter crass nonsensensical drivel with not even a hint of attempt to engage the argument... and that is only occurs very rarely, in all honesty.

Yes, there are one or two one could say prejudicial viewpoints out here, but we won't shy away from them.. we've had this before with controversial topics, and sometimes airing the dirty laundry we all have encourages us to bag it and take it to the laundromat.
