Gb Airways - Ba Takeover????

Yeah Yeah Yeah!!!

I know guys you have all heard this one before time and time again.. but is there now more truth than rumour??

1.Those little chapies and chapesses who are sidelined into working in the office ( for various reasons ) know something is going down.

2. The guys at Abela now taken over by Skychef are now under the impression that GB Airways will now be terminating their contract. The reason being BA are not happy with a German Company supplying the National Carrier ( Do BA really have that much clout over us?)

3. Following the instroduction of back catering only one outstation i.e Gibralter contiued to supply us with catering ( jobs for the boys one thought, lets face it our chaiman would not want to upset the locals!!) Well rumour has it that the catering unit at Gibralter will now close, is this start???? disposing of something now in preparation.... lets face it BA are not going to be so patriotic to the Gibraltarians ploughing cash into a catering outstation.

4, Following the changes in the Duty Free product our selection is now identical to that of BA shorthaul... again are we streamlining in preparation???

5, The nice guys and dolls over at Jubilee House and Heathrow are gossip gossip gossip and all under the impression that we are all just awaiting an announcement with regards to the situation.

So are we at GB going to be the last to know????

Lets face it guys, if it happens we all now that BA are now short of cabin crew a figure going into hundreds its alleged so us crew should be alright jack!!

However I am sure there will be a lot of middle management and upper management who will no longer be required!! Could be the blessing we have all been waiting for!! And the best thing that could come of it.... the oh so friendly lady in staff travel would be replaced by a machine thats takes ya money spits outs ya ticket and doesnt give you attitude!!

Get typing people we need to know including you BA people!!

Enough now as its 5am!! do I have i life ?? Dont be silly GB run my life.

I work for BA at LHR, and rumour has it that various other franchise companies will soon be sharing our check in building at LGW, jubilee house, due to all the route transfers to LHR, the building is underused, and almost empty. Other than that, I have not heard rumours about a take over. I think BA is struggling to survive, let alone be in a position to take anyone over. Regarding BA being short of crew, they are recruiting internally on a 9 month contract, from various departments, that are overstaffed, and also some external recruits. Hope this helps?

Having some years ago audited the GIB catering unit it is a surprise to me that it is still in operation as there are a number of companies on the rock including the bosses hotel that could meet the daily requirements. Any rumour about a take over seems illogical as the the only outcome with BA in charge is that we could turn GB into a loss making unit or pull out of the Iberias.

Though if you tie in the oft talked about amalgamation / buy out of Iberia/BA then it is not so illogical.

I cannot speak for the present but certainly a few years ago the 737's were shown on BA short haul operations and BA a/c plus crews were sometimes used to meet shortfalls. With regard to the present the A320's could be shown in the BA operation but at present we will not recieve any 321 until Jan 05. Therefore I cannot see what merger of resources unless GB is going to go onto BA AOC, we at BA have had enough problems in the past absorbing units into our AOC.
