@lucasgarciaa and Others: What to do?
@lucasgarciaa: I'm with you on this buddy. I'm under the same situation . I used to work for Qatar Airways and I'm dying to join EK.
My situation is just like Lucas'. Not knowing about the 1-year policy between the two companies I attended a Final Interview with EK before when I was still working for QR and I told the recruiter that I was employed by them. Obviously I got a negative answer which I just found out the reason why later on after reading this forum. So I'm assuming they must have the reason why I got a rejection email saved somewhere in their files. If I sign up with a different email and username and get a new passport, will there be chances of them not finding out I had been interviewed before? Should I not mention having worked for QR? Should I say I've never been interviewed by them so they won't try to research why I didn't get in the first time? Ps: My one year wait is not done yet (3 months to go) hence why I'm getting a new passport. I know it sounds confusing but I'm really messed up right now. If anyone could help please :{ |
9 weeks and counting...
Hi guys,
Although I would consider myself an extremely patient person under 'normal' circumstances, I regret to admit that I find myself becoming increasingly frustrated and impatient with the whole process. I had my FI in Aberdeen on the 4th of July making this my 9th week of waiting, 6 of which under the head of 'approval in progress'. I was contacted around the 5 week stage and was asked to resubmit both my casual an formal pictures due to 'inappropriate hair height' haha. So, disregarding my own personal mantra 'the higher the hair, the closer to God', I promptly took more with my hair slicked back and sent them to the London office for approval. However, calls to the London office to confirm the reciept of my pictures and to gauge the progress of my application, have only ever been met with someone who takes my phonenumber and online job reference number, but who never calls back, leaving me feeling even more frustrated than I was before. Further attempts to contact the Dubai office via email and phone have also proven fruitless with not so much as a reply being recieved... Any advice apart from 'be patient' or stories of a similar nature with a Disney-esque fairytale ending involving the person in question getting the job in dubai and living happily ever after would be most welcome... Thanks in advance, Gary |

hello Gary_Ferrari
hello - well we are in same situation then, i have been contacting them (emails/phone calls) but no reply from Emirates.
i had my FI 16 May and till now my status reads "under review" i have been asking for advice here but since no one is from the HR department here am only getting "keep trying contacting them" or "wait" its frustrating but still we have to wait. if you hear from them please share. do you know if your other friends already got their reply?? |
9 weeks and counting...
Arvind 74,
I'm really sorry to hear that you've had to live with the frustration of not knowing and being in an emirates equivalent of limbo since may! I thought my 9 weeks wait was bad! My only suggestion would be to try calling the London office instead of the Dubai one and ask to speak to someone who can help. Sadly, I'm not in a position to be pushy and ask for the progress of my application to be checked while I'm on the phone because 9 weeks isn't really out of the ordinary. But you, however, are. Call them on 02078080004 (you might need to pop the British country code in too) and ask to speak to Tanya. Because of the location of my OD the numbers weren't huge and were only in the 90's. This was eventually brought down to 14 (12 girls and 2 boys) for the FI, which allowed me to keep in touch with pretty much all of them. Therefore I am aware that all of them, bar one, have received their GC. The other, is waiting patiently (or not so patiently as the case may be) to find out if she's been successful or not and we email each other every day with progress reports. Haha Upon contacting the London office, she was told that the recommended 6 week time frame that we are required to wait only begins from the day that the Dubai office receive ALL your documents, so the fact that we had to resubmit pictures on the 5th week means that's the wait started from that point, meaning we both have another two weeks to wait... But like I said, try the London office and if all else fails, just be persistent to the point of obnoxiousness with the calls and emails to CCR in Dubai! Please do let us all know how you get on. Wishing you all the luck in the world, Gary |
??!!

To Attend an open day or not
Hi,
Just a quick question on Open Days. I have recently just submitted an online application for Emirates Cabin Crew. Is it necessary to attend an open day aswell? or what way does it work? would it be in my best interest to attend or just wait to see if they send an invite for an Assessment day? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :O Thanks |

Guys, i have a question! i was in Final again ( made it trough last year, but i was not offered the job) and i did NOT have to do the IQ test now. why is that? almost everyone had to do it.... good or bad sign?
|
IQ Test
freeair20 Just to share with you my experience: I went to the OD in Seville last month, just 14 made it to the FI and all of us were asked to do the personality test (IQ test) before of the FI, 9 people were asked to complete the rubrik test after the FI and 4 people didn't have to do it (I didn't have to complete the last one)
At the moment just 2 people have received the GC one girl who was asked to complete the rubrik test and me. So don't worry much about that!! := And good luck :O |
progress at last
Hi all tonight I recieved an email from a recruitment company along with around 180 other people to atend a emirates cabin crew pre screening day on the 8th september. I am so excited and nervous! finally progress, It all seems so real and close now; like dubai is just round the corner ( the corner full of interviews and waiting and screenings ect) but still so close.
any tips? anyone been in this position before? because its such short notice I will not have time to do a test run of how long it will take to get to the offices, and they are in the next city, peak hour traffic , I think. so I will just have to leave super early directions, mapped route and gps in hand. just a summary sent in my application about mid / end August never heard anything for a while then got this email, on the 2nd september , to invite me to a prescreening day. status is unchanged, still applied. goodluck all. |
blanketbird I have a prescreening as well! But on september 10th, and I'm travelling the day before to the city where it's being held. So nervous, but really hopeful :ok:
Best of luck, for you and all the other that are going through the selection process these days! |
blanketbird just keep calm and smile a lot, be yourself and meet as many people as possible! Good luck!
primaveracero good luck!! i have been reading all your post along this forum, and i know you are well informed about everything, now it's your time to show them how you are, but try not to show that this job is what you most want in the world, make them see that they need you in the company !! Good luck!! And do not forget that it's an assessment, and they are looking everything, how you smile, how you speak, even how you walk (that's so important!!). Also try to avoid silly questions, and keep eye contact with your collegues, try to avoid looking to the recruiters, if you are chosen to explain something to your group, explain it to your group!... you know what i mean?? Good luck, and remember that they are recruiting so many people and the waiting time it's not that long, my GC just last 2 weeks since my FI! :) |

Hey, there.
No matter what, the best thing is to go for an Open Day. You don't need an invitation for OD. Just show up and be really good, so they would invite you for AD. You can always register later on their site. And sometimes they don't even send you an invitation. Just go and rock them down. Fingers crossed.:O |
hello Gary_Ferrari
i do not think they will be of some help since am from Mauritius and also my file is in Dubai, rather they may ask me to contact Dubai.
am still trying (emails/phone calls) even though its without success :( if i hear something positive or negative i will let you all know..i know chapter4 is also in the same situation...some people have been lucky to get a reply within the 6 weeks waiting period while some are like me still waiting. what's hard is that we do not know if we have been selected or not and sincerely waiting for more than 3 months kills |
Hey there! thank you for your reply! i had to do the personality test but not the other one.... well, fingers crossed:)

Normally takes a bit longer for guys as far as I know and as happened with me. I think you would be able to get some info calling the office in Dubai (I don’t think UK office handles recruiting stuff) try early in the morning Dubai time from 7 to 8 am and I am sure you will be able to reach someone. I will try to find some numbers for you and send via PM.
|
jbrsp11 I don't think so, sometimes it takes a bit longer and sometimes it doesn't. I don't think is the fact that you are guy or not.
