Hey guys! Happy 2024! Thank god I found this thread randomly and wanted to ask a question.

I don’t know if anyone remembers but a while back we got sent an email asking if we wanted to swap bases. Out of desperation I guess you could call it I swapped from my original Sydney to Melbourne based thinking Melb base would be faster to get into a ground school. My circumstances have changed since then and I’d prefer to be back in Sydney pool. I wanted to ask for advice if it’s worth emailing to ask if I could be put back in the Sydney pool or would it just basically be putting me back to the end of the line or is it worth just waiting till after ground school?

I’m not too fussed as I don’t want it to hinder my application but just wanted some insight if anyone had any! Thank u <3 and good luck to everyone around!!!

They did say they’d give us an update mid Jan so hopefully some news soon!

haven’t heard anything still … I know this thread says international but did anyone apply for Brisbane domestic last year ? Had my AD in May. Through to next stage the next day. Did my swim test, RSA, first aid. They emailed in July saying no positions till 2024. Said I was happy to wait etc. had a few emails here and there about Jetstar but was ultimately told I’m too short for Jetstar .. (had to do an extra height test for Qantas and that was fine). And then got email in dec saying would hear an update by mid jan. Crossing fingers and toes for a GS date even if it’s like June or July. Anything would be great eep

Hey guys anyone here have their interview day in june and yet to recieve GS dates? Ive done everything upto my Asics in October and received a response that GS would be in December then another one in December saying mid 2024 subject to operational. Can anyone add to this? Its been so long of waiting im starting to lose hope 😞

Jan update yesterday, saying further update soon. Anyone else, friend of mine didn’t get the email though.

I went to AD in June. I’ve done my ASIC to. Have you been asked to supply First Aid Yet or Medical?
I was told mid 2024 to.. unfortunately. They sent an email yesterday apologising it’s taking a long time. It will be a year mark if school rolls around in June. Which is fine.. but I haven’t been booking any holidays because I don’t want to miss out on school lol & I think you can’t take time off for 6 months once starting.

Hi there, I'm waiting for a ground school date, I had my AD in March in SYD, completed everything in April. I have had updates every few months apologising for the delay in recruitment, latest stating GS will be mid 2024 and that they will provide another update in JAN. I'm assuming the update was/will be for people who have not attented an assessment day yet. It is just a matter of time, from what I've been told by many, it's a slow recruitment process and some applicants wait longer than others. Some applicants have waited 1.5 years to get a ground school date.

I know that post might not be much of relevance now but I did rent a great granny flat near by the training facility in Sydney of which I am moving out end of February2024.

This furnished apartment comes with cordless vacuum cleaner, DC silent 15 speed fan (no AC in flat), basic cooking utensils, kitchen (new fridge, microwave, oven, kettle, toaster). Washing machine can be shared depending on the arrangement of the nice and warming family who lives there. Pool usage and internet included and no extra cost. I have paid 560 per week for a nice quiet learning experience during ground school where I also get privacy similar to your own apartment. Maybe they are willing to negotiate since you are going to be Qantas crew... yayyyy

I’ve been waiting since Feb 2023.. been told every month to “thanks for your patience” have done 2 CPR’s. And was told there are ground school going thru but their prioritizing language speakers, and everybody else is on hold. But then told that they’re gonna open up assessment days in April. So I’m completely confused as well.

Is anyone going to attend AD in near future? Anyone has any update?

For AD, I made sure I dressed professionally/smart. I did my research on QANTAS, I was friendly to other candidates and made sure I looked welcoming, approachable and a team player when I was in group activities. The day is sorted by rotations, an introduction video, a 1-1 interview, a height test and identification check, 1 or 2 group activities, a comprehensive English standard test and a time to ask questions to current staff about their role. Remember they are assessing you from the start to end.

They should send an email about the documents you need to bring i.e. ID, print outs etc. If successful, you will receive an email/text a few days later stating you have progressed to the next stage. There are several stages, reference check, CPR, swim test, ASICS check and medical and then once that is finished you will wait for a GS date (the stage I am at). Good luck everyone!

hey! I took a passport sized photo taken from the post office and they were happy with that! :) a lot of people printed full A4 sizes of their faces too.

Hi, yes I remember they asked for an A4 size photo (head shot), I printed it and gave it with all the other documents they asked. Not sure if it was just a way to remember you by and to keep with your file/documents.Good luck

I took an A4 size photo, was awkward photo lol but some people did not dress business in their photos, make sure you do. Just keep in your mind to dress for the part. Remember, team work! Goodluck so exciting!

Been waiting since May 2023 has anyone got any updates on GS? I got a bull**** response from talent saying I’m in the active hold pool and they don’t have any dates. I even wanna harras them in LinkedIn because I’m losing hope :(

Try not to loose hope, it's a slow recruitment process. It will happen when the time comes. The candidates about to attend an AD will have to wait for a GS date too. TA said updates in mid 2024 (but hopefully it will be sooner). Some people wait 1.5 years for a GS date, of course its not ideal but it's just the nature of QANTAS and the aviation industry.

Hi there, is anyone out there in the talent hold pool for International Cabin Crew? They said they would be in contact before mid January.
they keep apologizing for delays...anyone up to speed on what is going on at Qantas HQ.?

I emailed them and got nothing back then I got frustrated and kept seeing them post about recruitment on LinkedIn and so I messaged one of the talent people a really nice message asking for an update and she just got mad I messaged on LinkedIn and told me to email the talent email :( it’s so hard I’m trying to plan my life and I don’t wanna give up cause it’s my dream job but like everyone I know keeps telling me it’s wrong to wait this long. If anyone knows anything pls let us know!

every time I see my friends or family they asked what’s going on and agree a year is a long time to put your life on hold for a job that is not guaranteed. I’m missing out on group trips amongst other things to, so I understand your frustration. Hopefully not to much longer :)
