Wowzer, it was 6 weeks between when I was through to the reference checks to when they actually emailed them.

I was expecting it to be this long to be honest! Everyone who has been through this is so shocked it was within a week! Are you currently in the talent pool?

I haven't heard anything from my referees yet. Let me check

Hey everyone, I just discovered this thread 🤦🏼*♀️I'm at swimming competency stage for Sydney base. I did the 1pm interview session on 13th June. I'm about to go overseas for a month so trying to organise myself to go straight in to a medical when I get back (assuming). Looking ahead if I am successful, I am wondering if anyone else is moving to Sydney for ground school? I need a flat mate or two. Also looking at suburbs that might be suitable within 2 hours from the airport for on call days. Is anyone else where I'm at? I am hoping if I have gotten this far I essentially should have the job, assuming I pass the medical and ground school, does anyone know if that's right? Feeling a bit in the dark 😂

Hey girl! You don't do medical until they have a ground school ready for you because of the cost of it ☺️

Hey girl if you made it onto swimming part then you are pretty much home free if you pass medical, and at the end of ground school if you pass then you get offered a contract straight away to begin flying ☺️ But they don't ask you to do medical until a ground school is actually free for you, so you won't need to worry about organising until you get that golden call!

Domestic / International confusion
 

Awesome! Thanks, so glad I found this thread. I'm also pretty confused about what I have actually applied for, lol. The original link I followed was for Sydney base, FY17 and international/domestic. So being clueless originally I thought that might mean they train you for both and you get a mix. Now I've heard that you're actually trained for a specific aircraft though so you would be domestic OR international? Anyone have any ideas?

Confirmation this morning I am at talent pool status! Couldn't be happier! Anyone else here from Sydney at the same stage? It's all new and exciting and I'm keen to meet my new team mates

I email recruitment team a few days ago asking when there would be a likely ground school and was told as soon as one is available they will be in touch.Seems all GS is full at the moment.Its so hard waiting but at least its positive news that we are getting a call as soon as GS is availabe.😊😊😊

Uploaded my swimming competency today and now my status is 'Talent Pool' (MEL base) yay!

OMG so happy for you! still waiting on my references to be contacted! what did you do in the swimming competency? I haven't done any swimming training for it but I can swim and tread water

I'm sure they'll be contacted soon Erissah! As for the swimming I contacted my local pool and organised to be assessed and then a few days before I went and practiced the 50m swim and the 3min tread to make sure that I was confident. You'll be fine! :O
