AD was on the 3rd May.

July 18th are you sure its not June 18th?

tjz 2nd Jun 2012 09:07

It's July 18. I went to the AD on May 8th and am scheduled for GS July 18 also. An idea how long before GS that employment pack/offer letter is sent??

somewhereat1l 2nd Jun 2012 12:29

Is your GS in MEL? Mine will be in SYD so maybe thats why I got mixed up.

I am starting as a CM but have not received anything from Tiger yet apart from the congratulations email.

I don't even know what the salary is!

tjz 2nd Jun 2012 13:02

Yes MEL GS.

wheels_down 3rd Jun 2012 03:05

Salary is better than Jetstar but just short (just!) of Virgin. A Crew member in Charge pays pretty well from memory.

GoldCoast1 3rd Jun 2012 04:20

Better than Jetstar

Ummm I disagree with that:=

jaycintay 3rd Jun 2012 04:26

Somewhereat1l it's definetely July 18th. But yes mine in melb GS so that's probably why. As for salary didn't they tell you at the assessment day in the presentation? They did for us

somewhereat1l 3rd Jun 2012 05:22

No they just told us the chock to chock DTA amount. No mention of parking either which I have heard Tiger do not provide.

Any idea how long before GS that employment pack/offer letter is sent??

"Any idea how long before GS that employment pack/offer letter is sent??"
-I'm wondering this too, tjz.

Does anyone know?
I was under the impression (from the email confirming I was accepted) that a letter of offer would be sent after they spoke to referees, along with details of GS.

jaycintay 5th Jun 2012 05:34

Ifly,

I'm a bit confused too, do you know if they have done your reference checks yet? I got that email too so I am under the same impression, but I'm 99% sure that my references haven't been check yet because I just emailed my reference details to them about an hour ago

tjz 5th Jun 2012 07:43

Apparently, as i found out today contracts are sent out 3 weeks prior to GS.

jaycintay 5th Jun 2012 13:15

keep us posted when u get any more info/contracts guys :ok:

lfly 5th Jun 2012 23:01

Hey guys,
I had two referees, and I know one was contacted for a reference.

At the AD I was told to give two, but that they'd likely only call one.

If it is 3 weeks, then that's excellent. Did you call Altara to ask, tjz?

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back, been very busy at work.
Yes, 2 people failed my ground school days before graduation, they struggled all during training so it was no surprise. I'm sure you'll do fine with the swimming, just keep practicing.

As for the pay discussion, if your at virgin and willing to do maximum overnights than yes you are payed a little more, but if coming home to your own bed is more your style, tigers pay is better. The CIC pay is quite attractive and we have even had a cabin manager return from virgin recently as they missed the pay, no overnights and the people of course ;)
Also if your looking to fast track your career it's a good idea too, promotions left right and centre for those that work for it :D

tjz & Ifly

Hi guys:)

Ifly In your previous post you said you hadn’t received a letter of offer and more info on GS yet, has that changed? Have you been booked into GS now that your reference has been contacted?
& tjz sorry to ask the same question but did you call altara to find out that it is 3 weeks before that they send you everything?
I’m not sure if mine have been contacted yet and am sooo anxious considering its all 'subject to successful reference checks'!!!

tjz 11th Jun 2012 08:52

Sorry....I emailed Tiger and they said Altara 'usually' arrange contracts 3 weeks prior to GS.

Hi jaycintay,
I still havne't received a letter of offer or more info on GS.
The process so far (for me) has been:

I was told on the day that I was successful,
I received an email a day later confirming GS on July 18th (I double checked, it will be a Wednesday!). The email stated that a Letter of Offer and further details of GS would be provided after successful reference checks.
I received an email and a voicemail a couple of days later from Altara with a request for my referee details (I provided this on the day, but they couldn't find it) I emailed the info to them, and one of my referees (my manager of 3.5 years) received a call the next day and she gave what she called a 'glowing' reference :)
My other referee was my mananger back in 06-07, so I figured they might not call her.

...and nothing else so far!

My AD was May 8th, by the way

flydiver 14th Jun 2012 00:47

Hi Asphalt jungle,
I have just been offered a job as direct entry cabin manager but have not yet accepted. What is a typical days roster & do you get many weekends off? Also what is the latest you get home at night?
And do you get staff travel & if so is it with other airlines as well as Tiger?
Sorry for so many questions, I need to be sure this is what I want.

flydiver 14th Jun 2012 06:28

Hi Asphalt Jungle. I have just been offered direct entry Cabin Manager and would like to know a few things before I accept. How often do you get weekends off, and what is a typical days roster? What time do you usually get home in the evenings? And do you get flying pay, as well as meal allowance??
Sorry for so many questions, I just need to be sure.
