Altara / Jetstar

Hi :)
I have been selected for Altara's AD for a casual position with Jetstar, date yet to be informed of.
I have a couple of questions that I hope some current FA's can answer.
How many shifts per week would a casual get?
Im in Melbourne, is all the training in Melbourne?
And can I juggle this job with a young family (2 kids under school age) and a hubby.

Thanks x

Cabin Manager

Hi there,

Does anyone have details regarding take-home pay for the recently advertised Cabin Manager positions in SYD?

I've taken a look at the latest EBA but if anyone could give me a rough estimation of what you take home fortnightly (after tax) I'd really appreciate it!

Feel free to PM if you'd prefer.

Thanks guys - and good luck for those with ADs/Ground Schools coming up :)

Cabin Manager

Yes they are recruiting externally for "experienced" Cabin Managers based in DRW and SYD - so I assume that includes Senior FAs/FA1s from other airlines.

Anyone have ideas of the fortnightly take-home pay, rosters etc for a domestic Cabin Manager based in SYD?

Do you need a Australian passport to work for Jetstar Australia, or will a UK passport plus visa suffice?

PPRuNeUser0198 20th Oct 2012 03:48

Hello Taroom - recruitment is dependant on operational requirements.

Darwin based crew operate to a number of destinations and includes Asia.

Assessment Day invitation Melbourne

Hello everyone, I would like to find out if there are any AD's coming up in Melbourne, or if anyone has heard about upcoming ground schools.
Cheers!

Jetstar ground school SEQ

Hello everyone,
Great read on everyone's experiences with getting into cabin crews.
I am currently waiting for ground school to start sept 2 SEQ.
My AD was in sept 12 the day was not too hard just long there was about 80-100 applicants there. That was a little intimidating as I has never been in a hospitality job and felt others had a better chance. Also I am in my 30s and was amongst the older group. However this didn't seem to matter. I have two children that I share custody of, this was probably my main concern to juggling home and work responsibility.
Now one year after AD I am finally off the hold list. Main problem I had was that I had booked a holiday to NYC before applying for cabin crew and had to wait for the January GS so I resigned my job went on my holiday and found out GS had been postponed to feb 13 then it was postponed again to unknown date. Unfortunately that means I have been unemployed since dec 12. Unemployment is at a high.
I am very excited that GS is scheduled for sept and praying it doesn't get postponed again. Hopefully be up in the planes soon :)

Upcoming GS

Hi KatVo
There is a MEL ground school scheduled for mid September.

KatVo 5th Aug 2013 11:10

Thanks Picasso,
Does anyone know if you get paid during ground school, or only after you start flying? (Through Altara)
Thanks in advance.

GS payment

Hi KatVo
You don't get paid for GS, although you do get paid a $1000 sign on fee for successful completion of GS and commencement of flying duties. However, I understand that this is paid in arrears. From what I have read, it's a good idea to have a bit of money behind you.

Hello again, I had a phone interview yesterday however wasn't informed that I was going to be called, so I was a little caught off guard! But still grateful to have heard back, and hopefully it went well. What I'd like to find out is if successful to an AD, do they give you a week or so in advance, or even less? And has anyone had a phone interview, and received a follow up response? Many thanks in advance, cheers!

blueeyecabincrew 13th Sep 2013 07:29

Hi, KatVo! I believe it varies. I was given about 5 days notice of mine, although I remember one of my friends was given almost a month for one about a year ago. I've also attended a assessment day for another airline which I was given 3 days notice, which is certainly tough when you have to organise flights and time off very quickly! I always say any interview is worth travelling to though.

Seq ground school

Hi eve77, just wondering if you got a call for the ground school nov 4 for seq? Are you still going to take it or have you chose other employment? I know it's been a long wait....

mareelouise 19th Sep 2013 12:54

Hi KatVo

I had a call too, have you heard anything yet?

KatVo 19th Sep 2013 21:31

Hello mareelouise, I have not heard back yet. I was told that assessment days will be held over the next week so hopefully we will get a few days notice. Have they invited you? Were you aware that they were going to call you? I wasn't notified, but a friend of mine received an email saying they would be calling her within the next fortnight (this was three weeks ago). Good luck!
