Virgin

Update I'm in training with virgin Australia now and they have told us they have cancelled the next few training intakes for a little while

occygirl 6th May 2012 06:44

Carguard, do you mean they have cancelled ground schools or assessment days to fill future ones?
If it's ground schools, which base?

missbilly 6th May 2012 06:58

Hey crewdom! Good to hear from a fellow brisbanite :) my response from them was that I had moved onto the next stage which was reference checks and that they would be contacting my references within the next week (so this was two weeks ago for me too). None of my referees have been contacted yet though. Sounds like we are in similar positions! Here's hoping we hear something soon!

crewdom 6th May 2012 11:48

Thanks Miss billy My email never actually said I had continued on to the next stage it just mentioned my application is being reviewed and they will get back to me. It will be understandable if the next few courses have been cancelled as mentioned above because this may be a reason as to the delayed response I hope. I wonder if these cancellations include Brisbane?
Can Anyone give a more detailed explaination as to the cancellation of courses

what to do!!

Hi all, I am new to this forum and not sure if this is the right place to post this I'm just looking for some advice from people who know what they are talking about. I am currently working for toll dnata as a ground crew member i have been working their for 2 weeks now and i am enjoying it, I have also been progresses through to the reference checks for a VB ground crew job. I am just wanting people opinion on which job i should take if succesfull for Vb, Tolls pay rate is a lot higher then VB toll being about $28 flat rate that means working early or late even public holidays it does not change where as VB is only like $17 but you get penalties etc, I have heard that working for toll i get to do a lot more stuff and it may be easier to move up in the company but job security may not be the best, I would like to work at virgin and work my way up as high as i can get I'm just wanting peoples views on all of this. cheers

Hey carguard are you in training for Brisbane base? Anyone else with any info re cancellations of further training/possible future dates for re commencement of training?

hb78 7th May 2012 23:54

I haven't heard about any cancellations. There is a ground school going ahead in Sydney base starting 28th May. Not sure about other bases.

Any planned recruitment at VA in 2012

Hi ...does
Anybody have any inside info if there is any planned VA longhaul recruitment planned for Sydney base in 2012?? Also what could a first year cabin crew internationally expect to earn on???
Thanks!!!!

missbilly 10th May 2012 22:47

Thanks hb78! My referees keep asking me when they're going to hear from virgin; it's tough to be patient but it will all be worth it in the end (hopefully!). Fingers crossed for scheduled BNE base ground schools soon! Good luck to all wishing & waiting :)

Chch CC

Hi there, I had an interview on Wednesday (9th) for CC based in Christchurch and it was a one on one since the earthquakes have changed how they do their assessments and I got a call yesterday to say I'm through and they will be calling my referees! Did anyone else go through from this? I know they are rushing it through since the training begins in Auckland on the 5th of June so they're not mucking around.
I just have to sit the online test, how many people are declined after this part of the recruitment does any one know? Or is it mainly just a process?
Then it's the medical and give notice at my job! Fingers crossed for me because I'm dying to get it!
I'm 34 and was concerned about the age thing, but think my masters degree and the fact that I speak Japanese may have given me enough edge for them to not be too concerned?
Any tips are very welcomed!!!

filthy rich 12th May 2012 07:02

very quiet,,,,anybody have info on next SYD based LH recruitment?

occygirl 12th May 2012 11:26

Filthy rich, virgin recruited for long haul earlier this year, the ground school is running at the moment. As far as I know the don't run recruitment drives too often - maybe once a year due to the low attrition rate...
Sorry I don't have any exact information about future recruitment but considering they just did one I wouldn't hold my breath for anything anytime in the near future. Hope this helps.

missbilly 14th May 2012 01:55

Hi all! Fingers crossed we hear something this week :) anyone heard anything at all re recruitment for domestic?

Cart Attack 14th May 2012 21:08

Does anybody know how many different types of aircraft syd domestic cc are currently being trained on or will be in the upcoming g/s?

Ta

crewdom 14th May 2012 21:46

Hi Miss Billy I agree hopefully we get a response, im becoming really anxious now. Ive emailed the generic recruitment team maiiling address just requesting the progress update yet to no avail. Im assuming they are probably busy especially with their relaunch of the Virgin Brand Product, well I hope this is the reason for the delayed response. Anyhow one can only be optimistic in times like this. FINGERS CROSSED

chchfly 15th May 2012 04:49

Hi Crewdom, what part of the application are you up to? Are you aiming for the 5th of June course in Auckland? If so, we may be on it together!

A_View_Divine 15th May 2012 11:24

My guess is dual based Boeng and ejet 6.5 weeks training, there is the introduction of the airbus but experienced crew are being trained on that rather than initial groups. Hope this helps

filthy rich 15th May 2012 21:10

VA Ground crew AD in Sydney 24 May!!

Anybody else who has been invited to the guest services agent AD on 24th May..What can I expect????

chchfly 17th May 2012 01:22

Aaaarrgh

I'm going crazy waiting!haha The gs starts on the 5th of June so they said they're rushing through and they sure did from the interview on the 11th of May and the call to say I can do the online test and they will call my references...No references have been called yet and they even double checked with me as to how much notice I need to give.
If it's after Friday then I'll have just two weeks to give notice, get my first aid cert (in another town) and do my medical!
After reading almost this whole thread I can see it happens in fits and starts but it's difficult in a small town where I'll have to travel to get anything done...No one else in here is in the same boat for NZ?:hmm:

danieldeakin 18th May 2012 01:47

applied for a position at the melbourne base on the 8th, still waiting for any notification on advancement. I really hope I can get through.

This thread is great, and good luck to anyone waiting for the lucky call.
