While you'd obviously want to turn it down as politely as possible, I'd expect if you bail out on an offer they'd get rid of your application and 12 months later you'd be just another candidate

Success! almost...

Hi everyone. It was with amazement that today I finally received the phone call of invitation to the Melbourne AD! so excited since I have had 2 rejections in the past.

Am I able to pick your brains and perhaps ask some of you to share the day's events? I am not looking for answers, but rather suggestions as how to be the best candidate and actually show them my drive and how my skill set will be a fit for them.

Thanks again for any opinions and suggestions. I am so so so excited to finally have my chance.

Cheers

I just found out that night stops otherwise known as layovers are only like 16 hours. So like if u start in Brisbane and fly all over.. And end on the gold coast u have to be back at work after like 16 hrs. That sux I'm used to like 24 hours! Does and one have more infO? like would Mel and syd be the same? B

Age Limit..

Anyone have any idea how old is "too old" to be employed by Virgin??
Or anyone in training or recently finished training, what was the age of the older trainees in your group??
A girlfriend [ who has previous flying experience ] has asked me what chance she would have at being offered a position.. I ''think'' she is late 40's may even be 50 [ I didnt want to ask!!]...but looks fantastic.
Said I would try to find out...
Any info I can pass on would be appreciated.. Thnx

Grove - in my training group we had a 51 and a 55 year old and brilliant crew members they are too.

I much prefer working with more mature crew, a lot more life experience and less drama's :D

Thank you for the reply.. I just rang and told her, she was very happy to hear that. She is onto her application already..

Just go to the careers section on the Virgin website and find Cabin Crew section...read up on the info and press the apply button. Fill out the application and you are then done. Good luck.

AD Melbourne 3rd April 2012

Hi guys and girls! any of you attend the AD in Melbourne on the 3rd of April ????
And, have any of you heard anything from them yet?
Looking forward to the next interview with the Airport Manager, but the wait is killing me! lol

occygirl 7th Apr 2012 21:03

Next stages...

Hey missbilly I did the online assessment on the 26th of March after my Sydney AD on the 20th, initially they got back to me really quickly to saying had passed the interview stage. Still waiting at the moment to hear if I passed the online assessment, I agree it's very exciting. I am hoping that they are waiting to get the latest bunch of ADs at all the different ports out of the way before doing all the reference checks. They seem super busy at the moment...

Mapsyd - The wait is killing me as well, I would love to have the opportunity of an interview with the cabin crew manager!

Is there anyone on this forum who is in the same position as me, waiting to hear about reference checks after the Sydney ADs in late March??

mapsyd 8th Apr 2012 00:03

Hey there Occygirl...maybe that is what they meant, Cabin Manager. But I am sure they said airport manager at the AD????
Anywhoo, let's just hope that we get our calls and that it will all be sweet.

occygirl 8th Apr 2012 01:15

Oh right, they said cc manager at mine but it might be different for Melbourne or something, I'm sure it all means the same thing. Yes, hopefully some good news coming our way soon! Did you do your online assessment yet mapsyd?

mapsyd 8th Apr 2012 02:58

No, I have not done any online assessment, apart from the initial application...
So? have you had the AD and are now awaiting a second interview?
I am a little confused as we had a AD which was a basic meet and greet session, no role playing or anything like that, just a basic waiting around in an office room with other candidates and then a brief meeting with facilitators. We are then invited to a second interview with the Airport Manager if we are successful through initial stage. What is the online assessment? if I may ask??
Is it a Psychometric test or personality assessment?
Weird how everyone has different assessments according to this site.
Look forward to your reply Occygirl.
Cheers

Hi mapsyd

Just for info, the airport manager has nothing to do with cabin crew recruitment.

Also, when you were hanging around waiting with other candidates, you were being assessed how you interact with other people normally. There are recruitment people 'undercover' watching how you act.

Good luck

mapsyd 8th Apr 2012 09:16

Thanks for the info. Yes, I assumed that was what was happening....It was kind of awkward though as no one was mingling...everyone sort of stood within their small groups. I of course mingled with the group I befriended and I hope that was good enough for the assessors.
The airport manager was what was mentioned to us, but perhaps they made an error, I can see what you mean though....

Hope my "mingling" was enough....now I am concerned that I didn't work the room.... geeesus, now I am anxious!! ha ha ha

Cheers

Hey mapsyd,
I did the AD and then got told I had progressed three days later to the online assessment, if i get through that, which I'm hoping I do, we get an interview eith the cabin crew manager at the airport and reference checks.

Your assessment day sounds interesting, I was one of a group of about fifty people from what I could tell, and we were all afforded a one on one interview with a recruiter. Like at your AD there was no role playing or problem solving activities, a bit different all the same. The online verbal reasoning test is a comprehension-based test, quite straight forward but with a time limit which makes it more difficult... I'm sure you will have to do this test at some point if you get through. I did it nearly two weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear back, so hopefully I will this week!

mapsyd 8th Apr 2012 23:33

Ah! I see, it's verbal reasoning psych testing...got it.
As for the AD, yes, seems that we both had the same outline. Now I am anxiously awaiting a call back to say I progressed to the next stage, another interview!!! I know I am being impatient but I wish they call earlier rather than later.
eeeeeeeeeek!!!!!!!!! lol

occygirl 9th Apr 2012 00:54

I know mapsyd, very exciting/anxious times! Good luck and I am sure you will hear back soon!

mapsyd 9th Apr 2012 01:06

From your lips to God's ears!!! ha ha ha (weird....I'm not religious!)

Thanks a lot for all your feedback, let me know how you get on with things OK?
Cheers
