Aer Lingus
Hi,
which union i.e. Siptu or Impact represents the majority of cabin crew in Aer Lingus. Would also appreciate any info/advice which would be the best choice for a new employee. Thanks. Willby |
IMPACT represents about 90% of the cabin crew. Stay away from Siptu, they're nothing but a bunch of radical left-wing Marxist trouble makers!
|
In comparison to IMPACT who are passive, like it up the backside unprotected, mates of management! LOL!
In jest, in jest!!! Sort of! :} |
Majority of new recruits seem to go with Impact, however during your training you should get an opportunity to meet reps from both SIPTU and Impact. Either way you have to sign up with one of them.
|
Hi All,
Thanks for the info. Impact seems to be the winner then. Willby |
Aer Lingus
Hi Guys
can anyone tell me what the senior rate of pay and flight pay is for Aer Lingus? Does anyone know what the interview is like for a senior? thanks nat xx |
Natters you will have to wait and see for a while on this one. Aer Lingus intend on bringing in all the BFS based crew on a new contract which is less then the DUB/SNN/ORK/LHR bases. No details have been released yet although the Irish based pilots are fighting the legality of it at the moment!

Senior in BFS base
I would imagine the senior for BFS base will be tough enough as the staff will be direct entry seniors, with no previous work history with EI. Current staff at the bases can find it hard to get promotion, so i would expect it to be a lot tougher in BFS. Expect a grilling on motivation, examples of, leadership, teamwork, problem solving, discipline etc etc but all from a Senior perspective...

Anyone been for a Senior interview yet? Been told they'll be inviting me soon-ish but they don't have an exact date yet.
Seems they're a bit low on Senior applications - despite 1100 applications for 100 jobs, apparently most of the cabin crew applications have been from people who haven't flown before so they're asking pretty much everyone with the required experience to interview for Senior. |

Aer Lingus recruitment
Just a few questions about Aer Lingus for anybody in the know:
How often does recruitment take place? Are T&C for the new BFS base considerably worse than DUB? How are money and rosters? Can crew go p-time after a certain while if they provide a good reason? Any additional payments for trained nurses or language speakers? Thanks for any help. I'm sure these questions will help a number of people besides myself, so all help is appreciated. |
I think recruitment will commence in Jan. T & C are worse for the BFS base. I cant speak for BFS, but DUB rosters are good, but it depends on whether you are operating Europe, Transatlantic or both. You can apply for part-time in DUB after a few years, but it goes on seniority. I cant see part-time coming up for a long time in BFS. Nurses, language speakers etc, dont get extra money]
Hope that helps |

Temp / Permanent Contracts??
Hey,
Does anyone out there know what contract terms are there for new cabin crew in Aer Lingus? I heard they can give you a 6, 9 or 12 mth contract twice before you can be made permanent. Is this true? I'm hoping to join soon but the 'renewing Temporary Contract' thingy is putting me off as I would like to have a permanent job in a yr or 2 so i can get a mortgage. (u know they wont give it unless u got a permanent job) If anyone has details please let me know thanks, rare_flower01 |
Aer Lingus wannabes & recruitment
I have applied for the cabin crew positions at LGW with Aer Lingus. Does anyone know what dates the interviews are due to take place?
Many thanks |
Aer lingus Gatwick
Hi i'm also interested in appying at gatwick. Can anyone give information regarding a typical working month with Aer lingus? Any overnights? Montly pay? How many flights per month. early starts? Any chance of long haul?
Many thanks in advance |
Interviews will most likely be in February for courses beginning in March. This would fit in with both the late January application cutoff and the April base opening.
Terms and conditions for LGW worse than for the same positions at DUB. Pay poor for cabin crew but reasonable for senior crew. Commission 8% divided between crew on domestic/RoI flights, 10% on others. Sector pay fully taxed. Basic pay at 80% during training. No nightstops planned for summer 2009 though this could change. Also no plans for long haul at the moment. Every airline has early starts and this will be no exception. You will work two and four sector days, as far as I am aware there is no fixed roster pattern. |
