Get some customer service experience, you would rather waste your time applying without having worked previously.

flygirl28 31st Mar 2008 15:54

Just apply. I flew for them for a number of years, and although there were people who came to the airline with solid customer service backgrounds, there were also people who were selected straight from uni/college with no previous experience.
Its not all about having work experience. Life experience is important to and also how you view the world of customer service.
All the requirements are on the website at www.emirates.com. My advice would be to fill in the application form and take it from there.
Also read the emirates wannabe threads that are on here already they offer heaps of useful information.
Good luck and safe flying.:)

Brazilian Crew

Hey guys! What about the brazilians flying with Emirates? Ive heard there are lots of them around... How are they? Thanks guys... i love the forum by the way!

Daisy86 1st Apr 2008 10:50

Thank you so much for your replies!:D In the waiting of a new open day in my country, I'm going to do voluntary work in order to gain more experience and self-confidence. A special thank to flygirl28, it has been really encouraging to know that Emirates takes on who doesn't have previous experience too.:ok:

DOJ

hey everyone,

I have a question for those out there who have received their golden phone calls and DOJ. I'm still waiting on my call and I was just wondering about the DOJ. Do they just give you a day and is it set in stone?or is it flexible? or do they let you choose a day? I'm getting a little nervous that'll they'll give me a DOJ that I won't be ready for. Any info would be appreciated.

thanks!

leemarlon 1st Apr 2008 16:37

Hi,
They will ask you couple of questions first, such like if you need to give notice period to your current employer and how long, things like that. Once you come to an agreement with the HR rep from Emirates, they will draft the contract and employment offer pursuant to your consent. However, there is possibility to make arrangement on moving your DOJ if the final approval comes really late...but only ONCE! So make sure you tell her when you will be able to join the company (flying out to Dubai).

Stay cool!

Marlon

Regarding to Final Approval

Does anyone have the DOJ in April? :bored: have you received the final approval? I am getting nervious because my DOJ is April 18 and am waiting for their final approval so I can resign my job and start serving the notice period which is 1 month. Definitely I need to change my DOJ with EK, does anyone have the same situation as mine?

Keey discovering...:E

semiliner 1st Apr 2008 20:00

What I don't understand is...how can they give you DOJ if they still didn't say for 100% that u got the job...and u are all still waiting for those calls. Shouldn't u be given a DOJ after the call, when you are completely sure that u got in??

I don't get it:/

jaluka001 1st Apr 2008 22:45

Hey Leemarlon,...

Just curious to know where you heard about only being allowed to change your DOJ once????

Thanks,
Matthew :)

leemarlon 2nd Apr 2008 00:46

My friend he got his DOJ changed by Emirates, because he requested it by phone. In my case, I emailed them explaining my situation and i was told that "please kindly wait for the final approval email and then reply to us regarding your request to change joining date."

 I am still waiting my final approval...how can I fly out to Dubai on April 18 if I haven't even resigned...

Hey leemarlon, I read the thread and know that you have to change your DOJ. We can't meet in training after all but hopefully will see you on board someday :). I just want to say; don't worry and hang in there, you will get your final approval soon. One of my friend who is currently working for another airline as a CC, he said if your medical is clear, there is no doubt that you will be in. It is just a matter of time. I'm also still waiting for my final approval and I totally understand how you feel about being unsure of things, hang in there. All the best wishes and take care :ok:

attending an OD this week!!

rbadizza!

i'm also attending an OD in just a few days, but not in your country! ;) Good luck anyway!!!

it's quite strange cause I was supposed to wait 1 year before re-applying, 10 months have gone since the day I had a final interview (not successful) however I received an e-mail from Emirates inviting me to this OD in my hometown!

I don't know what can happen but joining Emirates is something I want really bad so I'll do my best this time!;)

Regarding Final approval

Hi guys,
Just wanted to comment on the final approval for all who are waiting. I am flying out this Friday and I got my final approval on Tuesday, I wouldnt worry much about it as long as you know your medicals are ok. But if you need to serve your notice, I would advise contacting them by phone and informing them of this. Its will speed up things for you. Hope that helps & all the best

Interview Result

Hi guys, I'm new here and would like to fire off my first question. I had my final interview here in Dubai last Tuesday (25-Mar) but still no news yet from the HR Department. How long does it usually take to get the results? Am I supposed to expect a phone call or email?

Thanks very much!

Ena85 2nd Apr 2008 11:40

Hey guys, I totally agree with what was said up here in regards to DOJ (which they stress BEFORE we get the actual job)...It doesn't make much sense other than if they perhaps due it as an approximate date for when to finish medicals and the rest of the final stuff in time. What makes even less sense is the posts I see where ppl have said ek just forgot to call them after F.I's and they waited double the time...that's pretty harsh, I feel for you!Hm, I left them a voicemail saying that my DOJ please be changed due to travels in Europe- 5 minutes later I received an email saying it was changed from 2nd to 9th May so I was happy:D BUT then when I recieved the temporary contract it still stated 2nd May which isn't possible for me as I will be in another country. I signed it 'commencing 9th May' and emailed them to let them know once again. From what I gather here people don't get their final approval until 5 days before departure it seems, gosh I guess we just gotta keep waiting huh:)

DireStrife 2nd Apr 2008 14:46

Yes I do have friends who are married and were hired. No need to worry on this. :ok:
