You dont have to worry , your licence will include other aircraft types as well ...not just the A320 .. You'll get to see places:ok:

Hi to everybody..

In the airline business it is a limitation for a crew member to hold type rating for maximum of 4 types of aircraft. This is a logical case with etihad because they operate B777,A330,A340,A320,B767...so in these case they had to give one out to replace it with a new one.
I'm not very sure about this info, but i heard somebody saying that they are going to give out the B767.

Anybody has any info on new batch joining around 10th of February, any news,intels...

Best regards :ok:

I think the info you are referring to is for the cockpit crew not the cabin crew.
I currently work for Emirates and we have many ex EY employees ,, what i know is they are not limited to long or short haul ... their monthly roster includes a mixture of long, medium and short haul flights and they get type rated on different aircrafts . exactly the same as EK

Dear Sonic,

There is no such thing in ey ! i have just joined ey on the 25th of jan and we were three batches starting at the same time, we were all about 60 so there is no excess of crew, ... they need crew and they built a huge training center for that only, ... the training center is amazing, ...they are nice to us, the only issue that is annoying is the accomodation, BUt they are working on it (i am currently staying at the hotel), they are trying their best to accomodate every single crew, otherwise everything is good so far ... good luck for all of you and i hope that you will be able to make in here as soon as possible, ... by the way new batches are coming in february ... see you all

ciao

That's great! When did u have your asessment day? I hope youre having fun there, and thanks for supporting us!

ryz 28th Jan 2008 19:46

Hi EYner..

So, it is really true that they are just holding the applications because of the "training & accomodation" issues and not because they are already excess of CC. do you think they are going to proceed the applications for those who are on hold by February or still nothing confirmed???
HI SOnic83.. When was your assessment day? It's nice that your contact in EY told you at least an estimated date when to expect from them.. :)

I sent them an email yesterday regarding my status and replied to me immediately.. they advised that at the moment they are unable to process my application due to "operational requirements" and they are currently contemplating on when to restart the process.. :uhoh:

I also heard that some current Cabin Crews are on training for 1 month (I dont know when it started). & that's another factor why they cannot accomodate newcomers for now... (do you have any idea about this EYNER...)

Like you Sonic 83.. t ok for me to be on hold.. but I want to know if Im 100% IN or NOT.. (regardless of the medical clearance).. Im so excited!!! :}

Goodluck to all of us!!!!

EYner 29th Jan 2008 09:20

Hi,

Here i am checking my uniform, so be sure that everybody person on hold will get in here, it's just a matter of time. i know personnaly few people who were put on hold but they are in aldready, so don't trust grapevines going around cause the cabin crew do launch rumors and a lots lol ... well here i am, i saw with my real eyes, the only issue as i said is the accomodation but they are building an amazing village for the crew, they just want us to be as comfortable as possible, so be sure that you will be in the near future... i was on hold too so i had to wait for two months but i am in already, so i know how u feel guys, ... take care and good luck for everyone ...

bye

Hi Eyner..

Thanks!!!! When & Where was your assessment day?

humberto 29th Jan 2008 20:07

!!news!! !!news!! !!news!!

I thought that what I have heard about etihad having more cabin crew staff than needed was just a rumor but seems its true.
I read this some where else " Hi, as it ias all the time said in assessemnt days of Middle Eastern Carriers that we should expect the unexpected I also could have this experience!

I received a nice call from Etihad telling me and apologizing themselves that they have recruited too much new crew than needed and that I was rejected!!!!!!!!

That means that I can apply again, as soon as they have available vacancies on their website!! I am a little bit upset but this is life! You can never have it as you want! Now I can stay with my family and my mother will send me to London to study medcine!!!!!!!I always wanted to do this as well!! Girls and Guys expect the unexpected!!!!!

Cheershttp://www.cabincrew.com/ccnetwork/smileys/smiley19.gif "

By the way he already did his medicals !

dazednconfused 29th Jan 2008 20:22

hmm..

That is bad news indeed. It doesn't make sense to me though since there are still 150 cabin crew vacancies listed on the website...

humberto 29th Jan 2008 21:07

I am thinking maybe the number of applicants currently on-hold is more than the 150 vacant positions listed on their website.

PJY 31st Jan 2008 12:23

cabin crew delays

I am new to the site and am curious as everyone else is about everything you "hear" on this site. Patience is the best way forward at the moment! The airline is going through a massive growth period at the moment.

I know this as I have been accepted as On-Board F&B Manager. My interview was on the 6th December, 07 in Sydney. The first batch of training was on the 27th Jan, 08. They have had to shuffle a few start dates, and mine is currently 2nd March. They have 3 more scheduled start dates which appear to be the first Sunday of each month through till May. (Sunday is the first day of the week in the UAE).

Due to this role being a world first in the aviation industry and teething problems associated with new ventures, perhaps this is why Etihad Admin/HR have slowed down the intake - until everyone can take a deep breath.

It seems as though accomodation is the biggest hurdle, basically to deal with such a massive intake. However, what has been described about the airline sounds fantastic.

Be patient and good luck!:ok:

Midadi 31st Jan 2008 16:17

Hi Sonic,

you have to inform them because as soon as they are able to take you over to Abu Dhabi they will go after the 4 weeks you told them! So you have to inform them!!:ok:

...long time no posts! Just back from the Phillippines

rockerlpz 31st Jan 2008 23:54

hi

Hi guys, I already sent my online application a few days ago, now my question is: do I have to wait now until march or april to hear any news from the company? ( in case they get interested in me, and send me an invitation for an assestment day) or you think Maybe I could hear something from them before that?.

By the way, does any one know by any chance if they´ll continue the recruitment worldwide in march or april? , does any one know about the alleged future open day or assestment day in NY?, I´ll be looking forward for any answer.

THANK YOU

ashlea 1st Feb 2008 01:03

Wait for at LEAST late March, or April.

Just keep a check on this thread, I am sure someone will holler - with unparalleled enthusiasm & multiple exclamation marks - once the assesment days commence again. Or just check the EY website itself.

crackheadbob 2nd Feb 2008 18:30

OK, before you get your hopes up people,
Please check out the pilot forums regarding Etihad. The place is in a shambles. There is no accommodation. There will be none for quite some time. HR is in a mess. They have not a clue how many crew they need. They will fire you on the spot for any reason. The CEO has endorsed in his latest news letter for Airport handling to report crew, crew to report pilots, pilots to report on anyone.
As for the F&B managers it is not the first in the industry. BA had it first about a decade ago. Ansett had it years back. The bafoon (CEO) who ran GulfAir into the ground took the idea from Ansett. Gulf Air now penniless and flying around ancient machinery due to no money in the bank is left with what is called Sky Chefs. The person who is +60 years old brought into run the program at GF by the bafoon (CEO) currently at Etihad is now in jail in Bahrain. This is his long time colleague and friend he brought from Oz. He has been under house arrest for the past 10 months. The Sky Chefs are still flying around at GF and probably the most abused position from the other crew onboard. They do a great job but are resented by the lower paid crew.
Etihad will put you in a hotel room at base for min 3 months. Remember this is the middle east. the novelty wears thin within months.
We are all trying to get out some of us are bonded and have to do our time before we are allowed to leave. This is not a vacation. Ask the hard questions and get it all in writing. They will say what you want to hear but will not put it in writing. test this theory.
Good Luck:ugh:

NordicJetSet 3rd Feb 2008 08:50

Anyone received a phone call from EY HR? I got one this morning offering joining dates Feb 10th or March 2nd! I chose March 2nd. They called me at 6.50am my local time, so of course I was sleeping and was bit confused. The lady who called me seemed very busy, so she really didn't give me any other information. I'm just wondering if everything is now really confirmed. I'd have resign from my current job tomorrow, and I'm really nervous about it!

Those of you who have just joined EY, did you only receive the phone call or how were things handled?

Hi NordicJetSet..

Congratulations...

Does it mean that Etihad is now proceeding with the applications? I hope so... :)

ryz 3rd Feb 2008 14:07

Sonic 83

They are constructing a new building for Cabin Crew Accomodation. So dont worry.. :) Other cabin crews were living in hotels for now because the building is not yet finished.. Here in Abu Dhabi, it is very hard to find a flat, because of many expatriates coming.. & not all flats are nice & good.

That's also one of the reasons why the applications for cabin crew were put on hold.

Also, I heard that HR dept's office will be moved to their new office building.. I dont know if it's finished already...

Good luck to us.. I hope they'll call us within few days.. at least advise us to do our medicals, and later arrange our joining date.. (if were lucky!) :ooh:

fly.high 4th Feb 2008 11:57

So many crews staying in the hotels - true. There are no available buildings at the moment. That's okey, you don't pay for anything anyway. Everything is paid for by Etihad even your transportation. And yes, it is difficult to find a flat here in Abu Dhabi considering the number of EXPATs coming here, even parking space is difficult!

New building - it is not yet finished, it is huge. You'll know what I mean when you see it. You will have your training there.

And don't worry, EY HAS LOTS OF MONEY.

And Sonic83, you will never be fired for no reason at all. I don't know where you've heard it, but check your facts first:rolleyes:.. And don't worry about your accomodation, let the housing worry about it. Once you get here, you'll have roof under your head and transpo that will bring you to and from the academy..
and btw, no one told me this before I joined but you will receive aed3000 (It is a gift, it will not be deducted from your salary. It is enough to survive your first month here, not unless you go partying every night)

So cheer up guys, PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE:) Remember EY has been in the industry for 5 years only.. There are positive and negative aspects about it. So when you come here don't expect everything to be easy.. Sometimes you learn the hard way. But fso far, so good for me here.. It's just how you adapt to the situation:ok:

jimbols6 4th Feb 2008 15:09

when you are in the hotel i take it that you just get your basic salary until the company or you finds accomadation? are the hotel restaurants discounted as it must cost a fortune to eat out every night for three months?Does anybody know when the new cabin crew building will be finished?

CT7 4th Feb 2008 15:16

Correct, but you can get quite cheap meals at most places. Someone will know where.

Pay dayis 25th of the month but allow 3 days for it to appear.

There is a way to get I think an advance of 50% of your salary ?? ask HR.

jimbols6 4th Feb 2008 15:24

thank you for your comments CT7. is there any update on the accomadation situation at the minute?

CT7 4th Feb 2008 15:31

Cant really comment on cabin Crew accom, never been lucky enough to know all the buildings.... :)

I do know that there are 600+ in hotels though....

NordicJetSet 4th Feb 2008 18:48

Hello Sonic83!

They also called me very early in the morning, but I could see their number. First time it was last thursday, I was sleeping and missed that call and they didn't leave any message on my voicemail. So I was prepared for Sunday and left my phone on for all night, and they called me at 6.45am my local time!

About the medicals, I got information from the recruitment agency that you used to be able to do them once you arrived in AUH, but since beginning of 2008, it's not possible anymore.

I just resigned today from my current job which I've had for five years! Hopefully everything goes as planned and I'll join March 2nd and there won't be anymore setbacks...

With all the respect, I dont get it !! why you giveup working for such a great company like Lufthansa who offered you the job already and would open you doors to join any airline company if you wish to leave ,, for a company that is placing you on hold for months and nothing is confirmed yet!
I know its non of my business but why dont you just work for LH and if Etihad happened to call you ..then you go for it.

All the best :)

I was actually wondering the exact same thing as the previous poster. Why put all your eggs in one basket? :}

Even if EY or the UAE is your dream.. you want to have a Plan B right?

main15 5th Feb 2008 20:47

people still call you "trolley dollies or boys" in the middle-east, in fact people look at you like you are a piece of **** they treat you like servants, however, you learn to take it with a pinch of salt cos u know that in a few hours you will be of the a/c and at home or downroute having fun!

SuMmErDrEaMeR 6th Feb 2008 05:25

It seems that for those who are putting "on-hold", are going to receive their call soon?

ashlea 6th Feb 2008 05:30

That's what we're all wondering, yeah (and crossing our fingers for)... ;)

They seem to call people at the crack of dawn, so make sure your phone is charged and off-silent! :)

PJY 6th Feb 2008 12:58

Hey Wannabee's and Exisiting EY CC,

Anyone out there willing to shed some light on what current conditions are like other than the well known accom. shortage? Is the airline doing well with customer perception? Are the crew's being looked after? Are the conditions what are stated in contracts? Are staff overall happy with what's going on. Any noticeable changes with the new F&B Managers coming on line?

ashlea 7th Feb 2008 07:18

PJY

You might be better off sending PMs to existing crew members directly.. most people on this thread aren't working for Etihad (yet!)

jimbols6 7th Feb 2008 11:29

does anybody have a brakedown of the package that EY are offering to new crew including allowances?

Midadi 7th Feb 2008 20:18

Hi sonic,

woooooouuuhhhhhh that sounds hardcore!!!!!!!

What?? At first put on hold and than rejection letter?????!!!!!

Thats really crazy!!!! Maybe it was better for you....Swiss International Airlines has the same procedure here in Swizerland as Lufthansa and you can be happy that you still had your opportunity to remain with Lufthansa!!!!!

I also read it on other forums that there were several guys telling something like that about EY! It is really not fair in my opinion! the poor candidates who were waiting for soo many months!!!!!!!!

Good luck! I am waiting for Emirates Final Approval!!!!!!!!!!!:ok:

midoy10 7th Feb 2008 20:31

heyyyyyyyyyyy

:bored:Etihad airlines may be reject you but it is a negatif aspect from you that afraid any one can sing in or want to work for EY .:bored:
LUFHTANSA is good and may be god want you to work in your country not in another airlines sonic , so good luck and good luck for who wait for the finnal decision to join EY :ok:

rockerlpz 8th Feb 2008 00:52

Hi everyone, first of all , Sonic 83, I was shocked when I read your message, I´m really sorry, I can´t believe that they did something like that to you.. , don´t worry, becuase you´r really lucky to still be in Lufhtansa.

But sometimes I really don´t know what to think about Etihad, because at one hand you get to see cases like sonic 83 , but at the other hand, I know a lot of people that have been accepted and they began working in EY only after a couple of months after their assestment day.. so.. I don´t know what to think..

I guess sometimes is luck? , well, anyhow, does anyone knows any news regarding any posible near open days in the US?, specially in NY? , I really hope they begin recruiting again soon in march, because this wait is way too freaking long.. I swear to God... , or does anyone knows if maybe emirates would do open days in the US?, they´r already doing them in Canada.

Any News? , I´ll be looking forward for your answers

THANK YOU

ashlea 8th Feb 2008 06:21

Sonic83

I'm really sorry it worked out that way :uhoh: It is very very lucky that you have Lufthansa though.. congrats and good luck with the training and your new career! :ok:

Did the person you spoke with really say all that? I can't imagine it.. saying that they 'don't know how to manage all the files' etc is not professional at all! Do you remember the name of the person you spoke to, and did they say anything else? :(

angalien 8th Feb 2008 06:24

I don’t want to sound harsh but for some reason I don’t feel sorry for sonic83.

Sonic, from the very beginning you were saying that you would like to work for Etihad and so on at the same time telling all sort of things about Lufthansa. When you got rejection from Etihad we hear everything vice versa. If you were the recruiter would you like to have person with such attitude as a part of your team?

We all know that airways can be unfair and you were not the only person who they treated in such way but there are lots of other people who work for them without any visible problems. It seems that recruiting process is like Russian roulette when you never know what the next shot is going to bring you.

In any case I wish you good luck in your future job. ;)

humberto 8th Feb 2008 07:22

I'm out of the game too

:} alright guys and Sonic83....
I recieved the rejection email yesterday aswell it says ."Thank you for participating in the Cabin Crew assessment Day We appreciate your patience regarding the status of your application.

Due to current cabin crew department requirements, we are unable to proceed with your application. We understand that you may feel disappointed, and we do apologize for the time it has taken to get back to you regarding your application.

If Etihad Airways is still of interest to you, please feel free to re-apply for a Cabin Crew position in 6months or for any other positions we have available.

Thank you for your understanding, and good luck to you in your career endeavors."

I actually dont feel sad ,, i know if they could they would have taken us all and i am defenately going to apply again and to other airlines aswell :E
good luck to all.
