No I dont think so, if you applied on the 15th that would have been too close to the last interview date so they are probably just holding onto it til the next interview session! They said the next ground school would be in March giving them enough time to recruit again!

wondering if anyone can confirm?

Alicia20 14th Feb 2011 11:07

Anyone know when they might be recruiting again? I would be interested in being a cabin manager as have been flying for 7 years with manger experience.

Hiring in the Philippines?

Hi Just want to ask if by any chance Tiger airways does hire Filipinos? And if so, how and where? :) Thanks a bunch

cptn caveman 24th Mar 2011 01:04

Ive been invited to a recruitment day in a few weeks. Anyone here work for Tiger as a casual?

jcp2 14th May 2011 06:11

hey anyone applied for the tulla & avalon tiger casual cabin crew position?

Crystal rose 17th May 2011 08:07

The Recruitment for the Melbourne base for Tiger Airway's is on the 19th of May you have to apply on line to Altara they are Casual positions I hope that helps.:ok:

I believe the next Ground school for Tiger will be in June as I have mentioned already Altara are handling the Casual Cabin Crew best to send the CV's into Altara or just apply to Altara before 19th May to try to get into the interviews comeing up.:ok:

PhePheBox 19th May 2011 11:53

Hey guys,

I attended a recruitment day today - 19th may and was successful, they are having two groups going though one for a 30th may session and a 4th of june session

Good luck and shall see you online x

Ivan_Krazy 19th May 2011 13:10

Hi there

Congrats on getting through. I did a jetstar one last week and was unsuccessful. They weeded from 48 to 20 applicants and I was one of them for the final interview. I was the only one of the two males in the final round so I was real nervous haha.
I had so many bad expereinces with Tiger airways. 3 hour delay last week and the other day was 2 hours delay and a few weeks back it was cancelled :/

I guess I should apply for tiger airways as it's a good start in the aviation industry! Once again well done :)

you just need to pass the alcohol and drug screening.

RELAX

... Just RELAX and be yourself. You get examined on a multitude of things, is really just a matter of committing things to memory. I started my cabin crew career when i was 39, and was shyte scared i hadnt studied since uni, like almost 20 years before. Main things you need to learn ( which they will give you at the beginning of training) are your cabin prep drill, and cabin evacuation drill. There are about 8 steps in one of the drilld and about 11 in the other. It took me afes to learn them, they had to be word perfect, as well as having to learn the over wing briefing which had to be word perfect practically as well. The good thing is that you dont get examined on these 3 components until the final day, so you have plenty of time to learn them. Final exam comprises of multiple choice and some written components, ie, wat is the announcement the captain makes for certain situations. It was a bit more arduous and thorough than my current airlines exam process, but hey, you really gotta know your stuff. You also get examined on fire drills, decompression and your doors at the Qantas centre. Thats when you get examined on your door commands, and the evacuation drill.
It sounds all daunting i know but if you work & study every night then you will pass. Trust me, it is a lot of study and hard work in a short timeframe, however once you have learnt it all, well it all comes together and sinks in.
When i started training at my new airline, a lot of the training was quite easy, the biggest and hardest thing to do is relearn your door drills, which does put experienced cabin crew at a disadvantage in my opinion because you have learnt the door drills from your first flying job, and they are usually the ones that have sunk in, and because their are usually just subtle commands that are different, it is very hard to "unlearn" your original commands. Anyway im jumping the gun a bit. My advice is that you just have to study pretty hard for the 4 weeks of training, its only 4 weeks, and keep refreshing after you have got through GS, because you always have your morning briefing before you get on the plane, and if you dont know your stuff they can stand you down, so its good to keep learning, and refreshing (ie, read your manual regularly).... Goodluck, if you got through uni you will breeze through it
:D

No new planes coming for a long while, means no new positions for aircrew.

Tiger MEL

I just got an email for a recruitment day this Thursday (it must have been 6 months since I applied).
Is anyone going along? Didn't think they'd need more CC at the moment

@ dy1ng_to_fly, how was recruitment day, did you make it??

dy1ng_to_fly 18th Aug 2011 22:40

Hey, I didn't go in the end. I'd applied so long ago & it just wouldn't have worked out for me at the moment (mainly that I haven't budgeted for the first three months without pay, I wouldn't be able to pay my mortgage).
I went to a Tiger RD about this time last year & got through (with an enormous amount of others!), but they didn't end up putting us all into GSs.
Did they say when planned GS are?
Good luck! Hopefully not too long to wait!

A_View_Divine 30th Dec 2011 12:36

Looks as though Tiger is recruiting again too, a new link has appeared back on the website for the Melbourne base.

Seeing as it is through Altara, is anyone aware of the award/ pay scheme, other details the same as it is for Jetstar?

I've applied for Melbourne too, I am keeping all of my options open! :) Last week I caught up with a friend who does CC for Tiger. She didn't specify the hourly rate, but I did find out that Tiger do not get any penalties or loadings, nor do they get any sort of public holiday rates. It is a flat rate all year round, regardless of whether you work christmas etc She also said you get a $5 meal allowance per shift, but you have to pay for your own parking which comes out of your pay. I also wanted to know the same as you - if Jetstar and Tiger have the same rates because they're both done through Altara. But she said most-likely not, because Altara is a recruiting company but they do need to apply each individual airline's conditions still. I think Jetstar would probably have somewhat better pay because they are a sub-group of Qantas, unlike Tiger who are totally seperate and are a true budget airline. Hope this helps

LadyJ1 2nd Jan 2012 08:00

Altara.

I used to be cabin crew with Tiger thru altara. The pay was something like $24 an hour and then after 1hr of flying it went up $10 per hr. No sick leave pay or annual leave etc. But the money was good. We were all working fulltime and making decent money.. also when you are delayed, you still get paid whereas the fulltime crew didnt.
I could be wrong but I am fairly sure that the pay would still be the same.

Goodluck to you both. I really enjoyed Tiger. I hope you all do too :)

PhePheBox 2nd Jan 2012 12:24

I also was altara tiger cabin crew, it's a great foot in the door. Friendly crew and tech, rostered hours were down unfortunately do too the grounding a lot of sby's. I'm now Qantas domestic and enjoying conditions better. If you love cabin crew then definatly get your experience by working for tiger xx

Hope89 2nd Jan 2012 22:04

LadyJ1 & PhePheBox,

Thanks heaps for that. Yes my friend was saying that they still don't get that many hours and there is a lot of standby... but hopefully that will get better with more hiring happening soon? I also have an interview with Qantas and Jetstar some time this new year, so I am glad that my options are open. I have applied for Tiger twice in the past, and not been invited when the other bigger ones have- which is interesting. Maybe because I have previous airline experience in check-in, they really only prefer those who are truly starters? I'm not sure. This time for Tiger I made my application super simple, and cut out half of my experience I attained through check in. Would be funny if it worked :p I have no doubt working for Tiger isn't as bad as some people make out to be. That is why I am trying and going to find out for myself if it happens :)

PhePheBox 2nd Jan 2012 23:09

It doesn't matter if you had check in experience at all Hun, I started in the call centers then check in then airline management. So don't stress at all, it still took me 4 times to get not tiger as well

Hope89 2nd Jan 2012 23:35

Thanks PhePhebox, that makes me feel quite a bit better :) I'll let you know if I hear anything, assessment day is on Jan 18th.

A_View_Divine 3rd Jan 2012 03:56

Thanks so much for the feedback! I really appreciate the positive comments.

Received an invite to the Melbourne AD on the 18th this morning.

Feeling a little more confident after attending the Jetstar Altara day that I know how the day will run.

Fingers crossed!

LadyJ1 5th Jan 2012 17:28

Experience

The experience doesnt matter, it helps when your actually working the job but when it comes to the interview part.. it doesnt. I have been working since I was 13 and I tried for the airline industry as soon as I turned 18.. I finally got the job with Tiger when I was 22 years old. For me, I went into the interview without any expectations and I was lucky enough to get the job. I am now working for an international airline and have been for the past year. Never stop trying if it is really what you want and eventually it will happen. :ok: I really hope that you all enjoy Tiger, alot of people back mouth them, but I had so much fun with them and I wish I had of been there longer. :)

I have heard the most SHOCKING stories regarding Tiger. Is it true that the trainers are absolutely awful?? That you will get fired for not being smart enough just a few days before you finish ground school? I try not to believe everything I hear but am actually really quite concerned haha The last intake apparently less than half passed according to a person who was there....What was ground school like for you? Is it really THAT bad :\

PhePheBox 7th Jan 2012 01:45

Hope89

I was in the last intake they had for tiger, we only lost 3 out of initially having 17
2 left to due to other jobs and 1 left due to behavioral problems.
We had a graduating class of 14, the trainers are strict, firm but fair.

ladylj

I think I know who you are :)

Hope89 7th Jan 2012 05:25

Thanks for that PhePheBox - I thought so, and I wanted to know more from a credible source :) Thanks to you and LadyJ1 both for sharing insight, I have applied for absolutely everyone and going in with an open mind and heaps of motivation. Congratulations PhePheBox on your position with Qantas, I hope to maybe meet you one day as I apparently will be attending the next round of interviews which should be happening soon. Good luck and all the very best :)

LadyJ1 8th Jan 2012 15:45

The trainers

I loved all my trainers. It is true that people get sent home for their bad attitudes, but it is not unfair. They would of made the decision if these people were really rude etc. I knew someone that was asked to leave and it was a good thing, if you cannot follow rules and have nothing nice to say or do not get along with others or you simply pick fights all the time, how are you going to go when there is a real life evacuation etc, I wouldnt be trusting that person with my life nor anyone elses.
Training is tough but I am glad it was. :ok:

elrehab 9th Jan 2012 03:46

training was ****e, trainer was ****e...i will never attempt to do training with an airline that makes you pay your way and who doesnt pay you a training wage..its all suspicious and their training is useless.....i was excited at the start and now im glad not to be working them. A friendly reminder to others. be careful and dont devote your life to a company that treats you in a bad way. respect and morals go hand in hand. being made to put up with sarcastic, intimidating bullying behaviour from a trainer is not what I, as a human being signed up for. I wont put up with anyone's bad behaviour towards me just so i can get a job. thats why airlines like young people because they can mould them into their sheep. you have no personality or say. i am a good nice person and they eat people like me for breakfast.

A_View_Divine 18th Jan 2012 07:28

I had my Tiger AD today and got the job! There was such a great group of people, I'm actually excited to potentially be having them in my GS group. I have decided against attending the MAM interview which I had scheduled for tomorrow

LadyJ1 21st Jan 2012 13:58

Congrats on getting the job with Tiger. I really hope you enjoy your time there. Goodluck with ground school!! Study hard :ok:

A_View_Divine 13th Feb 2012 05:02

Is anyone else waiting on Tiger GS?

We were just informed today that our GS wont be until May! Our assessment day was January 16th!!!

Has anyone waited that long?

I wonder why they even bothered with an AD... I had given notice at work too, and they have replaced my role, looks like i'll be poor for a while!
