Hi everybody.
I'm trying to find out an answer to a very serious question in regards to International Flight Attendants that were advertised in November.
I'm hoping someone is 'in the know', for sure.
I note in the job application the English test requirement is 'ADVANCED LOW' on an OPI test. That's fine.
But CASA Standards MOS make mention of an IELTS 5.5 or a TOEIC test.
This is my question.
Is IELTS or TOEIC required AS WELL as the required grade on an OPI test, or just the OPI test, as mentioned in the job application.
Does anyone know 100%???
Thanks for any answers.

I believe that you might misunderstood the advertisement.
The Nov Cabin Crew recruitment advertisement that I am aware of is for Language speaker who can speak one of the few selected languages such as Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese or Korea.
To be able to carry the Language speaker badge as a crew, they need to achieve minimum of "Advanced low" level of the designated language they nominate.
Therefore, the "Advanced Low" is not for English. Your English proficiency is being assessed when you are submitting the predictive hire questionnaire and there is also a "reading comprehensive" test on the Assessment Day, as well as through the face to face interview.
I hope this explains a bit for you.

Hey guys,
I guess this is a post of me needing reassurance.. I believe in about 4 days time I would hit one year of my application - and I am worried that since it’s hit the 12 months mark and I’m external, they would boot me off kind of thing? Is this a thing? The waiting is hard, but I am very hopeful seeing everyone’s ground school posts.

I was very annoyed as the position was advertised again within weeks of my application being terminated and once again I missed the MEL assessment days. I have now reapplied this year and waited another 6 months to get to the questionnaire and now probably the same thing will happen
but… if you’ve passed the assessment day you should be fine based on what I’ve heard of others experiences, people have been in the holding pool for a long time for a start date.

On second reading, the advertisement does not mention 'Advanced Low' in English at all, as you quite rightly pointed out.
That's what threw me.
That clears up my misunderstanding of the CASA MOS, and wondering why it suddenly changed.
Thanks heaps.

Update Melb Base
Hi all, just an update. I attended AD Melb Base in June. I’ve just completed my ref check yesterday & just received an email to complete my security check. Things are moving, slowly but surely excited for the new year! X

In australia Jetstar hire domestic cabin crew, although depending on your base, you will do short haul international duties such as DPS, ZQN, AKL, RAR and NAN. During covid Jetstar did move some FT team Jetstar employees to be endorsed on the 787. Since then, Jetstar only hire international cabin crew for their international bases in Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok and Denpasar. These crew operate flights from their bases to and from Australia, HNL, KIX, NRT, ICN, and SGN. I hope this makes sense 😃

Yes, Just received email for GS now commencing from mid 2024. I really was hoping for early next year.
What is the security card that you have been asked for? I have not been asked for that.
Let's keep positive!

Just got an email saying no assessment days until mid 2024 and to answer survey to say if keen to continue application and wait.
2.5 years of waiting to get to an assessment day so far.. even with previous wide body flying experience on my resume as well. Think it's time to give up on the dream of getting back there

I hear your frustration and it does kind of shape us with this prolonging process . Please try not to take it personal as everyone is being treated equal regardless any flying experience as this is not part of the system. This process will have an ending somehow and its up to the universe or other forces. I truly believe you did and do your best.

Hey crew,
I've just passed the 6 month mark flying and really loving it. Currently though it feels like QF could be a bit over staffed in the cabin crew department. We've been offered casual part-time roles in the first half of next year and also leave without pay with staff travel incentives. With the Paris Olympics and plus the Rome flights coming back in the European summer it wouldn't surprise me if training will start again then. In the meantime, keep your heads up, stay positive, and have a great Christmas with your families and friends. This time next year will be totally different, you'll be in the air or on the other side of the world with your QF family )
