Ryanair Cabin Crew Application
Hi All,
I've just finished Uni and applied for a few cabin crew jobs. So far I've only completed 2 (Ryanair and Easyjet) but only Ryanair has come back to me with a solid date for an interview. Naturally enough I've heard rumors of how horrible working for Ryanair is and all that but to be honest as long as I'm getting paid at the end of the month I'm happy.
I wanted to ask you guys a couple of questions regarding Ryanair for anyone who is currently Cabin Crew there or who has been before. Is it likely that I will get to choose my base? Personally my first preference would be Dublin which I'm hoping will be available seeing as it is pretty big. The second question is is it worth working for Ryanair? The pay for the first year isn't great and you have to pay for your own training out of it, but I've always had an interest in aviation and provided that the wage is something similar to the market average I wouldn't mind that too much. My biggest concern is in comparison to other airlines would I be better off going for someone else? Finally is there any tips you'd give me for the interview and recruitment process?
Thanks for all the help! If there is already a similar thread please send me a link I can't seem to find one anywhere.
P.S. I applied through Dalmac.

Hello there!
I'm a First Officer in Ryanair so can't give you as good an answer as you'll get off the actual cabin crew who"ll reply here but I'll give you my insight anyway!
Every cabin crew member I talk to always have different opinions. Some absolutely love it and wouldn't be doing anything else. Others can't stand it, so there really are two extremes. I think it depends highly on which base you are designated. Believe me though you often have a good laugh throughout the day with some good banter, in my base anyway! Like I say, I'm locked behind the flight deck door all day so can't tell you much more I'm afraid
I'm very interested in this thread as literally just yesterday a good friend of mine was offered a cabin crew position with Ryanair so looking forward to hear what you guys have to say!

Ryanair Cabin Crew
Some facts you may not be aware of. No other airline charges you so much for your training, no other airline (by its own admission) fires between 10% and somewhere near 30% of its new trainees in their first year. No other airline suffers at least a 15% resignation rate among cabin crew. No other airline doesn't pay its staff, even if they are officially on duty, if the aircraft isn't moving (volcanic ash, fog, ATC strikes, mechanical problems etc - you don't get paid anything but you'll be fired if you take time off!). No other airline charges staff so much for the tattiest uniform in creation. No other airline drags you hundreds of miles to Dublin to be sacked and doesn't even have the courtesy to pay you for the miserable time you devote to this employment charade. No other airline engages in so much bullying of its cabin crew. No other airline fires cabin staff if they fail to sell the miserable passengers enough stupid tatt (including so-called charity calendars). And no other airline begs you to apply for a a job with it, then sidelines you to working for an employment agency which forces you into a miserable contract which doesn't even guarantee you a decent week's wages. Oh, and congratulations for being accepted for a job with the "World's Favourite Airline"

Sorry - I never addressed your actual questions. Yes, you are much better off working for another airline. No, your choice of base is meaningless. They will send you where they want, not where you want. People I have spoken to reckon they would have earned more money flipping burgers in McDonalds. Ryanair, at least for the first few years, is a minimum wage job. A raw beginner with British Airways earns at least €4000 more than a Ryanair cabin crew in his or her first year. You have no protection against exploitation in Ryanair. There are no unions and your job contract is written according to stone age Irish law where the odds are monumentally stacked in the employer's favour.

how is working for ryanair
Hi, I've been working for ryr for 3 weeks and I can tell you how it looks like...
First of all...do not worry about the interview...they take everybody...
Well...everything you've heard about it's true, they do not give you the base you want and they like to send people away from their countries...I'm italian, I know for sure that they sent lot of new cabin crew to many bases in Italy (Roma, Pisa, Milano Bergamo) and they sent me to Frankfurt Hahn and I do not even speak german!!!!!Hahn is 150 km far from Frankfurt and it is in the middle of nowhere....not exciting at all...
I can tell tell what a normal working day looks like for us...you work even 12 hours a day, you do often 4 sectors (4 flights per day) or even 6 in some basis, and the next day you have to work again...Believe me it is tiring...and I do not think it's good for your health...before you start you can not understand how it feels like....Consider that I just want to do 300 flight hours with them and leave to apply for another airline....a proper one!But you know, as I have to give them back 2.400 € if you work just for a few months you will just loose money...If you wish to have any other information feel free to send me a private message...during these 3 weeks I've already understood many things....Good luck!!!

Cant get an interview with Ryanair - Why?
I have been desperately trying to get an interview with Ryanair for cabin crew, I have read all the horror stories and honestly - dont care. I want to join them. I am based in Bergamo, Italy can relocate but for the life of me cant get through the application websites. I suspect my age has something to do with the rejections I keep receiving. I qualify height and weight wise, answer no to all the health issues - English mother tongue, advanced swimmer, EU passport holder and so on. Happy to work shifts and standby shifts, love to fly and travel.. sales onboard - no problem etc etc But nothing.... Has anyone else of similar age - 40... Shhhh not to loud had the same responses. I have ground operations experience and included this in my testimonial... Am I missing something here....

In the same boat
I am so glad I saw this post. Not that I am revelling in your misfortune but I too applied to Ryanair through Dalmac and I didn't get a call for an interview either. The horror stories cudn stop me either really want to pursue it as a career and if it gives me a head start then so be it. But I am wondering the same thing is there something I am missing too? I got the impression that you would be guaranteed an interview but I spouse nothing is certain in this life
