Following on from the previous thread, I know it can be frustrating to wait for an answer guys, but three weeks isn't too long to wait. This isn't exclusive to MAM/Qantas; unfortunately it is the nature of the industry, and it is not at all uncommon to be waiting months for an answer. I was lucky in that my process was relatively quick - I got my yes call within a month of my interview, but it was still a good five months between applying, getting an interview, getting the job then commencing and completing GS. Be patient and remember that no news is good news. Good luck.

Job Confirmation
Hi Guys,
Can some confirm for me... at what stage in the process do you sign a contract? I.E When should you think about quitting your job?
Am I correct is assuming that once you are accepted into ground school that is when you are guaranteed a position (assuming you pass g/s) Or after completing g/s could you still not be given any shifts?
Thanks

Hey I went to the MAM AD in Sydney last Wednesday, very professionally run. Nice group of people too, they did two group activity sessions before the cull. Didn't make round 2 though.

I was thinking the same.
I think the EP's are done at the Jetbase and maybe the "theory stuff" at the centre of excellence.

sorry to hear that. Don't give up. Give it another go. Maybe try different airline. From my experience, this is the first time I ever apllied fo qantas, Virgin, Jetstar and got through with qantas, Virgin didn't even invite me to AD just send me email that I was unsuccessful and with Jetstar I was invited to AD but politely turn down the offer as I was offered ground school with qantas. Good luck

CCwannabe. I was at a Sydney AD early January, and no news yet/contact at all for anything. My refs were checked 3 days after my interview though. No one in my group has heard back yet and had any contact from MAM. Major backlog.
Maybe the smaller states might hear back sooner, although Im assuming it would all be going through the one head office.

CCrew_Wannabe, ah have you tried out for any other Airlines?
I too didn't make it past MAM's morning group!
I'm not too worried though, as it wasn't my preference, and I'm waiting for GS with another airline, I just went along with a 'why not' attitude, and their pay was better.

Even after passing medicals you can be cut...happened a lot.
CartAttack - I personally wouldn't say anything until you have the job offered. As usually GS won't be immediately.
Depends on the job though you have now. I know on my past job they would have been all happy for me to go for this either way.
But if it's a job/manager that might not be so supportive, I personally would wait till I have a job offer.
Given the nature of the industry, wait times and culling.

cartattack - when you are offered GS, you are sent the training contract only. basically MAM is just hiring you to start training with them. its not til you pass GS that they will offer you a Category C contract.
Thats as far as i know.. because in my employment package, i only received the contract for training.
good luck to all those waiting to hear something!! im excited for you all =) remember no news is good news!!! update us if you hear

Sydney AD
I went to the Sydney ad last week, got through the panel interview and got an email the next day informing me my references were ''currently'' being contacted but iv been in contact with all of mine and NONE of them have been called... i emailed mam yesterday and got a response saying they were ''trying to get through and they will be contacted shortly'' i dont understand... how can it take that long? everyone else seems to go quickly through this process... i seem to be stuck...
