question for EK crew

hello all, I am purser and trainer in EU carrier, I and my girlfriend have both contracts with ek as cabin attendants. The date of joining is coming soon, so here is what I would like to find out:

1. Does the buddy bid work? ( or just you bid to fly with the ,,buddy" but you never get the flights)

2 My salary is around 900 eur, what is pretty good here, where I live. Is it worth moving to dxb, as I heard it is dam expensive, even the flat paid by ek?
As I do have nice house and nice living ( and I have id tickets at present company so I can travel arund )

3 Do you know any EK cabin crew who got married? (As they promise 43k DHR for housing allowance..) the question is, is it 43k per familly or 86k for both as both are cabin crew of Ek...

4 I have read a ot of bad stuff about ek ( but every job has goods and bads), I have red, that you have been treated like in school, but no one tells me examples ...

5 if you went so far, can ou give me more pros and cons
working for ek..

Thanks for your answers, You can PM me as well.

ive been working for ek for 1.5 years.
to answer your questions
1. the buddy bid system works. i have friends who buddy bid with their boyfriends and they get 4 out of 7 flights together. however some people complain that buddybidding does not work for them. i think its just the matter of figuring out how to bid on our portal.
2. tha salary is cca 2000 usd/month. the ek provided apartment is paid for by the company. dxb can be expensive, depends on where exactly u stay and what u like to do in your free time. i find dxb cheaper than most of european cities.
3. it is 43k per person, so together u will get 86k.
4. the company has so many cabin crew, they need to have a system and be strict. how else could one manage 13 000 cabin crew?? yes, at times they treat u like a child in school but there is no harm in that.
5. the only con i can think of is moving to dxb. it is too hot and the sun baked many people's brains. the pros: company gives u accommodation, transport to and from work, u get good allowance outstation in the local currency (extra money to your salary) and more than 100 destinations.

Benifits

If we are not married are we allowed to list another person (i.e. significant other ) as a dependent? Also do you know how many family members fly for free? I come from a family of 8... so I am sure there would be a limit somewhere, also my father passed away and my mother re-married; would the new husband (not my father) be eligible since I my father passed?

Thanks for your help!

Sunny

Sunny, this is a Middle Eastern Airline- No, you must be married and dependents are children.
I am pretty sure you get 2 siblings (this I am not 100% sure of because I don't have siblings)and yes, your step-father is eligible.
If you are going for an interview, keep in mind that there are many cultural differences i.e. de-facto relationships aren't allowed.

Hope that is of some help.
