REX Regional Express
Does anyone know why REX have an option to select Brisbane as your preferred base during the applcation process, but they don't actually conduct any flights out of Brisbane?

They used to have a base in Brisbane. They closed it permanently about 9 months ago. They probably haven't changed the application form!
Having said that. I'd apply for it. You never know, they could be reopening it....... Worth a shot

I got an email from them saying that they were meant to start operating out of Brisbane about a year and a half ago, but it never happened, and thye're not sure whether they will be in future or not. So I'll just keep updating my details with my fingers crossed!

At least you will be first on the list for an interview if Brisbane base happens soon. Better to register your interest than to miss out. REX is a great company to work for too. The crew are great, a lot of fun. LIke all jobs has it's good and bad days but overall I was very happy!

Townsville Base
Townsville base has been open since roughly October 2009. I believe there are 3 FA positions up there permanently. They're recruiting for the hold file in case any of those crew resign. They are doing TSV - Mt Isa at the moment but expansion is definetly in the plans.

Hi guys,
Just got a text message saying that Rex are recruiting in Sydney next month.
Is anyone here on this forum able to shed some light on what it's like to work for Rex? Salary, hours, their personal experience of what was good or bad...
Any information much appreciated.

I got the text message today too, inviting me to an interview on April 15. Seems funny they wouldn't even do a phone interview before inviting you to a face to face interview!

Hi Brindabella24
I asked them (Katie) about what the day would entail and it seems like the same structure as Qantas recruitment. No phone interview but no guaranteee of panel interview either. Group activities in the morning and then if they want to interview you, they'll get you to come back after lunch. I think some airlines give the phone interview more credit than what others do.
So are you going to attend?

Rex is a great airline to fly for!
Pay is pretty good Base plus DTA from sign on in home port until sign off in home port. IPD... ....No red eye flights, earliest you will fly will be 6.30am, latest (except for disruptions) will be around 8.40pm. Great for lifestyle!! My roster averaged about 110 hours of duty time. Some long days but lots of short days too. Crew are fantastic.
I'd still be there but I had another opportunity. Having said that I would go back to Rex any day!!

Thanks for your input hb78, that's great to hear.
Brindabella24, I think I will. I'm still waiting to hear back from a recruitment day I went to last week but even if they do invite me to do a medical, I'd still go because it's never official until you're actually offered a contract really.
Yes, it is in Sydney they're recruiting. That's so great that you already have a position. Yay for you
