You'll usually find the low cost sector will have a naturally higher turnover rate, especially in the London bases, meaning they will usually have a near constant recruitment drive. The best thing to do is check the careers section (if they can call it that ) of their websites. Beware of Ryanair though as training will need to be paid for whereas all other airlines do it for free and they still pay the basic salary whilst doing so. Good luck to your friend

Hello from Manchester, UK - an out Irish gay male living alone with no partner or children with a valid Republic of Ireland Passport, 39 years old, living and working in Manchester since 2002,
Since when has one's sexuality been an asset (or a liability, come to that) in finding a job?

Cabin crew requirement advice sought?

Hello.

I was wondering if a 'spent' conviction (10 years ago when I was 16) would go against me applying for cabin crew jobs.

I have a basic disclosure and no criminal offence is recorded because it is spent and so long ago.

I just don't want to waste my time regardless of my passion for aviation, and get my hopes up.

I have studied hard and completed many courses to get where I am, and I am beginning to feel that it may all be for nothing, when I have worked so hard for this.

Your opinions are much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Alexander.

Lightbulb F/A positions based in Asia..?

Are there other channels/means/websites listing F/A positions based in Asia..commercial (but in particular private)? It seems to be mostly Europe and the Gulf. Jobs that are open to more nationalities than only the base country I mean.

I know private aviation within Asia is a growing market and yet I never see any positions open. I would like apply to business cities where languages other than English would (hopefully) not be required. Hong Kong, Singapore etc

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated

you need to go onto aviation jobsearches to look for airlines that are recruiting internationally. Alternatively, if you go onto this forum you can find at the bottom a list of forums for Mid East etc.

Cathay Pacific were recruiting in London recently, I would suggest try a large Middle East company and then from there you can move on in your career. Unfortunately, the way the airline industry is at the moment if you are passionate about what you want to do then I would look at alternatives if you cant get a job or find a job in your home country.

A lot of people have had to move overseas for a passion if this is what you seriously want to do then consider it.

For the Irish guy, have you tried Jet2 or Titan/Viking - not a lot of airlines are recruiting at the moment, maybe easyjet to get your foot in the door its long days with targets to be met, but might be worth considering.

Alexander if your conviction is spent and not showing on your disclosure then you have nothing to worry about. Go for it

@ mellymoo

I'm not trying to find a job in my own country. I'm willing to relocate anywhere. I already check the major aviation job searches. Already am with a major middle eastern carrier.

Thank you mellymoo

Thank you for your help, mellymoo - I have applied to Easyjet and am awiting a reply, am in the middle of an online application to Flybe, but have heard that Jet2 is in trouble so may not be recruiting..? I will have to start up another application to Jet2 once I find out more and when I can sort out the password issues with the online applications - I've never heard of Titan nor Viking operating into MAN & have been advised by a friend who is C/C to avoid charters like Thomas Cook, etc & also to avoid Ryanair - BA & Virgin Atlantic may be recruiting soon, so have signed up for job alerts via email on thier websites - really starting to consider relocation outside of the UK/Ireland for even a fixed term contract especially given my advanced age (39) - most of the jobsearch websites seem to be geared to the US & not the UK/Ireland/Europe & have directly sent my CV to airlines based at MAN including Monarch, with a covering email via thier contact sections

Why does everyone always think Jet2 are in trouble?? Annual results have just come out and a decent profit has just been made, in line with expectations. A large recruitment drive was carried out over the winter for cabin crew for the summer, including for the new base at EMA. Recruitment will not start again until October/November now.

Question Schedule information / differences

Can someone please give me more information on 7 on, 7 off schedules. Is it 7 days in a row on and 7 days in a row off? And what about the 15/15 one?

Thanks

This is my first post. I´m 35 and would love to become flight attendant. I would like to have an idea of how tests are, I know there is a personal interview in english and then like a team test which I can not imagine what is all about... I would really appreciate your experiences and tips for the interview and test like thing to avoid etc.

Torn Between two...

Hey everyone, first time poster to the forums, currently going through a bit of a dilemma...

...I'm 19 and currently working on a gap year to make money for university, which I had intended on attending in England in September next year. (I live in Ireland.)

However, vacancies have come up for cabin crew near where i am and it is something which I have always wanted to do, or at least give it a shot. Should I take the opportunity now and go to university in a couple of years time, or wait and put university first? I'm really 50/50 here and I'm looking at the application form wondering 'do I, dont i?'

Hi karlalarla,

What does your gut instinct tell you? I was in a similar position when I was 19, I wanted to take time out before I went onto further study, back then I did a course to become cabin crew, I got in and never looked back. I have done other jobs in other industries but never went back to further education but I've learnt a lot regardless.

Why not look at the options at University in terms of how long you can defer for. If you've wanted to be cabin crew for a long time too, explore that option too and apply. If you apply, get through but change your mind, then you haven't lost out, the application process is good experience in itself but undoubtedly, go with your heart, always wins in my opinion.

Hi!

I've been in the same boat. When i came out of High School, I took a gap year and went and did Camp America, then settled into University life. 3 years later, at 22, 2 weeks out of University with my business degree i landed a job as cabin crew. And i haven't looked back!

I'm even now looking at doing Post-grad study while i'm still flying next year ( as you have plenty of 'down time' ) So that is always an option... Fly and part time study... Though i do recommend the "university experience" it was an awesome 3 years of my life and i do miss it! Hence why im going back. haha.

I'm glad i did my degree first, because its now out of the way and i can now get on with flying and cannot wait to see where that takes me!

Does anyone know of a cabin crew recruitment survey?

Hi everyone,

Does anybody know where I can find a cabin crew recruitment survey? – i.e. a list of all the airlines saying whether or not they are recruiting in the coming months??? (i.e. not just a jobsboard like aviationjobsearch.com)

Many Thanks!

David

Looks

Bernice,

Your gap is in fashion right now! Some african cultures consider it a sign of wisdom and venus the goddess of love. It's definately a beauty mark. Bit of a shame for me as I have the opposite problem - they are too close and I have a bit of an overbite which means that my upper lip looks funny when I smile. I'd be happy if I was you to have this feature!

It's all in the power of your mind and your confidence! I wish you the best of luck
