Hi All,

I dont think its anything to do with experience or language speakers all.

I worked for the rival Emirates for 10 yrs as a Senior so I have flying experience, and fly internationally now can get away with conversational French and other languages basically asking what they want to drink eat etc.

It is a GCAA legal requirement that you have to have one English speaker and an Arabic crew onboard and I would think they are make it a priority to have a native speaker of the country they are going to. It used to be Afrikaans for South Africa this changed due to SA having 13+ languages, India - Hindi speaker this changed due to so many places we flew to in that region.

I think we just have to wait as they are awaiting a/craft to come and sorting out their requirements on crew!!

We will get there eventually!!

Do you, guys, know if they would need japanese speakers again?

And if they just wanted the Japanese people only or those who are not Japanese but speak the language also? I am asking because I'm studying it.

give it a go.

The reason being is the study is all in English anything to do with the Aviation Industry onboard is all done in English onboard. I would apply for an Arabic speaking position, because it will be for an Arabic speaker if you dont try you will never know xx

Hi, just would like to let you know, have no idea how many though, that Japanes people have also been kept in the holding pool since last September or November.

I just got email from HR and what they said was that I still have to keep waiting as currently no training courses available. HR also said they will contact me once any training course is confirmed. I don't know when it will be but I'd like to wait with fingers & toes crossed

Any news about training from Abu Dhabi by present EY crews will be really appreciated

Hey guys,

I just thought i'd let you all know that i've just had my holding pool email from HR. I got it on 4th March & i'm from the FRA assessment on 14th December. I know this info isn't of any use but i wanted to keep everyone updated.

To Coffee or Tea - At my AD the recruitment team asked us only to put other language skills down if we could read, speak & write the language. The reason being that you will be assigned as a speaker of that language on certain flights. This responsibility means everything from doing PA's, to helping pax in their native language, to translating any important information downroute. I speak Japanese but don't read or write it, so i wasn't allowed to put it down on the form, as if they assigned me PA duty on a Japanese flight i wouldn't be able to read the PA's they wanted me to say!

Sky26, congrats getting your start date. Oh and Marie2009, I replied to the email basically telling them im still very interested and I am looking forward to hear from them again soon.
Was just reading the Emirates thread and so much joy is going on with the mass recruitment and people getting calls every day for start dates. This thread is in dire need of some excitement. Would be nice if Etihad decided to carry out a mass recruitment too, bringing lots of smiles to peoples faces. I guess our turn has to come too some time!! Its been a while really since anything has happened here!!

Thanks cragle for the info. I hope you are right that we will be celebrating over there soon with champagne in hand.
Anyways, im probably getting a little ahead of myself but I was thinking arabic speakers have been already given training dates so maybe with the new assessment days for arabic speakers coming soon. Maybe those people will be in training with all those already in the holding pool to make up the different nationalities they usually have in each batch. So maybe, thats why they haven't arranged dates yet..
I know a lot of maybes

Some of my friends working at etihad have lost out regarding renewal of contracts as of this week also, so who is taking over for all these people who are gone???
There NEEDS to be more training to keep everything ticking over!!
