Freedom/ Zeal contracts

hello all!
Just wondering if I can pick the brains of those who know about Zeal/Freedom/ Air NZ pacific cabin crew?? What are the conditions/contracts like?? I'm flying in the Middle East at the moment but am looking at options for when I make the move back home! I want to make informed decisions!

Thanks in advance!

FARSA Wake Up!

Being an employee within The Group who regularly travels across the Tasman on aircraft operated by Air NZ Long haul Flight attendants and those operated by Zeal Crews, I find myself asking the question. What is the difference????
The Answer is simple. (Although not accurate in every case)
Zeal is full of Young, energetic flight attendants, who are motivated and happy to be in their jobs. They don’t have the latest and greatest equipment to work with, yet do their best to offer a pretty good level of service (albeit in the cardboard box that management provides them).
Long haul flight attendants are also vibrant individuals who provide a good level of service, but they have all the tools to do so, including IFE screens in the back of the seat as part of the redevelopment of the airline product.
I have a number of friends that are long haul flight attendant who continually complain at how hard they work, and in the same breath joke at how hard zeal guys and gals work for peanuts.
FARSA from what I understand represents both bodies of flight attendants. When are they going to act for both groups and do something about pay parity? Both groups do the same job (on different a/c types) and complete refresher training together. So why aren’t they paid the same?
FARSA, why don’t you do something for your members?

If people continue to sign contracts, what do you expect FARSA to do?

When negotiations start, the union is presented with a business model from the company. Zeal is a different company to Air NZ, although a subsidiary, it has its own budget, labour expectations/costs,
$ per passenger and mile. The conditions have improved but unfortunately these contracts are the way of the future, Qantas and its subsidiary Jetconnect are more guilty of such things.

I would predict that eventually Zeal crew will be spread to long haul flights and that would explain NZs failure to take on the most recent Long Haul flight attendant recruits. As soon as the current Long Haul contract expires and those crew dont accept the contract on offer, Zeal crew will have their hands up and jump at the chance to fly long haul. They will be deceived by the great lifestyle not thinking they wont have any money to enjoy it.

Im not saying its right, but not much can be done about it.

people are very professional & friendly. The contract is not good enough, so called Double-banger is very tireing. Turn over is high and i dont think the company will do anything about it shortly.

Odd response from mods in this forum - bit tougher here than in my usual hang outs! I don't typicaly type in 'nokia speak' so no idea where that comment comes from!

Anyway I think the point I was trying to make was along the lines of - looks like strike action is looming from the zeal employees. Not unexpected with the change to the EMPU and the companies dopey stance towards a group of employees pretty vital to their operation!

Fifes comment apparently at the recent ER Summit was they are a low cost alternative, and if they dont want to be that, the Company has no use for them. Fighting words haha
