CPL Theory for FI(A)
Hello
I’ve recently attempted to gain a Class 1 medical however the CAA have said I do not meet the requirements and so far subsequent appeals have failed.
I currently hold a UK and FAA PPL with a Class 2 medical, and a UK and EASA SPL with FI(S) privileges.
I understand that to become an FI(A) without a CPL
you need to do the CPL theoretical knowledge course which is similar to ATPL’s.
Does anyone know if you can self-study for these or do you need to go through a ground school provides like BGS?
Thanks in advance

There's no reason why you can't self study but you'd be better advised to use one of the schools offering remote tuition. They have their fingers on the pulse of what the latest requirements are and would be able to provide up to date question banks. I've just mentored someone through the process using BGS and I don't think it would have been anywhere near as seamless without using a school.
Don't forget that the cost of the exams, and having to repeat them all in the event of not passing within three attempts makes the cost of the course worthwhile.
