IR renewal flight Simulator
Dear Colleagues,
UK PPL SEP IR renewal on flight simulator. I'm looking for a flight simulator preferably located in the South-East. Would anyone have a recommendation?

There is a handy clause that allows a big jet LPC to keep an SEIR valid by experience. Otherwise just do the flight in an airplane - that's the reason you got the IR isn't it? It's probably not that much more expensive.

The CAA are wrong to block the use of sims for this rating as if they allowed them, not only could the rating be renewed with guaranteed consistency, it would allow the introduction of failures in flight that cannot be conducted in the air. Surely that's got to be an improvement in safety?

If it is just the IR(A) you can do every other one in a simulator as per this https://regulatorylibrary.caa.co.uk/...validation.htm
If you are doing the Class/Type rating as well then an aircraft must be used.

Thanks SimJock.
If that is the case then are there any approved single engined sims in the UK that you know of?
An FNPT II or an FFS representing the relevant class or type of aeroplane may be used for the revalidation pursuant to point (3), provided that at least each alternate proficiency check for the revalidation of an IR(A) is performed in an aeroplane.

Do a search in this list for FNPT II, then pick a winner

Thanks again SJ.
Sadly in the UK SEPs seem to be limited to two aircraft. One a Cirrus derivative at Birmingham and another non specified type at Lee on Solent. The latter not being advertised for use by the owners.
Since I've now expired anyway I'm forced to use my aircraft. Back to looking at the rain then.......
