So, pprune actually should mean:
positive posters rumour network ? Only positive postings allowed? My opinion is that LGW is entitled to an opinion as much as you are. "You should have your licence revoked for that comment." And you, young man, should sometimes think before you write, thats what I´d suggest. Actually, your own advise: "I wouldn't say anything until you have something constructive to say...that's a good lad!" is not that bad. Stick to it. Have you got a licence LGW? |
"Young Man"
Dudeness
Very presumptuous on the "young man" front, and sounding suspiciously like 60's superstar, Lesley Phillips Chocs away |
They will be competing with managed aircraft that fly for variable cost only PB |
DJ101, the young man was aimed at BJJ who claims to be 26 years of age. (in another post)
In the context of his line regarding the licence revoking of LGW. Which of course you in turn don´t find presumptuous, do you? |
Commercial realities dear boys - stick to the pointy end, away from the area you appear to know little about!
I hope it works - but am convinced it will not. Jesus Christ, there is a difference between negativty and realistic point of view. Me a license? Jeez I´m lucky enough to not need to fly the darn things as well!! :} |
I don't think that statement is true, no owner would let the aircraft fly for variables only, what would be the point? PB |
Your Dudeness...thank you for the compliment! My point is that right now we don't need anymore negativity than we already have. You have to agree with me that being as pessimistic as LGW was, is not helpful! What is the point? Yes everyone is entitled to their own point of view, not denying that but lets all lighten up a bit! :ok:
Oh and yes I am a young wipper snapper although not fantasticly young, but to be fair, that isn't what we are talking about here is it? JetBird is something new and everyone will agree that new companies bring new jobs...none of us know where each of us will end up (job security anywhere?) but think about it, if there are more opportunities out there then the chances of staying gainfully employed are more promising. |
Sorry that I didn´t recognized irony in your statement. If there was one, you definetaly hided it well.
However: JetBird is something new and everyone will agree that new companies bring new jobs.. So adding jobs at one end whilst others are disappearing is not necessarily doing any good. Look, I wish everyone a job, preferably a decent one. However IF we discuss new business models, it has to be allowed to even have a negative opinion. Surely its nicer to have 30 contributors agree how great they are and blablabla, but people - very often the ones with a certain experience have seen to many JetRepublics and the likes to jump on every new train there is. And evryone with the same opinion is not a discussion. Maybe JB works well and creates shiploads of NEW clients, something that would help the rest of the industry, somehow I doubt that especially in the current market. But we will see. |
I agree with you...and for a broad view, all angles are good whether they be positive or negative. I myself am an optimist...maybe that's naive of me but It keeps me happy.
I am not disputing the discussion of how concrete any of these new business models are. Until the op actually takes off, we won't know, time will tell! My objection is the level of doom and gloom in LGW's post which lets agree, is unsubstantiated as no-one knows what will happen and JB's business model is unproven. None the less, like everyone else, he is entitled to say what he likes. |
Suitcaseman,
Wrong business plan, that was Blink's PR, Jetbird is simply a question of scale - not cheaper than existing operators, just bigger and deeper pockets. The chances of getting any significant market share from business class migrants is negligable, Low Cost operators are all about cost accountng - be big enough to get better fuel / handling / aircraft purchase deals, pay the crew less, work the crew harder, no catering, 3 star hotels for the crew, charge the crew for type ratings, miss out the broker, cram the schedules together. To do this they have to put smaller operators and brokers out of the light jet business by cutting costs in the manner above and having a very visible online boking system - Hands up who wants that to happen (apart from the currently unemployed) Phil |
Phil, you are very correct.
For me, I am changing direction in my career. I am now going to be an aviation business consultant. Any one considering investing in the air taxi/VLJ market, please call me. I will charge 10% of your considered investment and guarantee to save you the other 90%. I think I should do pretty well, PM me you wizz kids out there who seem to have all the answers. |
Hawker,
Good idea, unfortunately you won't be able to become a Consultant Asset Manager without having experience at BA and a bank. Phil |
No Probs
Did 15 years before the mast at BA and have been with the same bank for 40! |
I think this quote is one of the best here fellas:
I think JB is something fresh in these dire times so why don't we all wait and see, hope for the best and be more positive. If you are intelligent enough to have a bit of foresight, you might realise that new companies mean more jobs, that's a good thing right? Perhaps some of you need to remove the stick out of their a... - be positive guys. What else is the point of dropping comments here? Everyone cheer up alright. And now: Good luck to JB, I think, it´s a noce try. At least: They TRY! And now...you in the last row: SMILE... |
Jet who?
Is this a Jetbird thread or a Jet Republic thread?
Because no offence to Jetbird (great idea, great aircraft, great paintscheme etc) it all sounds TERRIBLY familiar.... replace JB with JR and its the same thread! People buying jets to operate commercially, competing against the managed fleets and a credit crunch, tall order...... big challenge, like....Everest! Good luck to Jetbird, i really mean it, but to all those posters saying "hats off to the bold newcomers!" all id say is take a dose of reality guys and look at what happened to Jet Republic.....and the staff who joined then got dumped in it. confidence and innovation, no matter how well meaning, doesnt bring sales....and the market is stuffed.... |
[QUOTE]Is this a Jetbird thread or a Jet Republic thread?/QUOTE]
Old Scandinavian saying: ”If you don’t have anything useful to say, don’t say it” := |
Well said:ok:
|
Minor correction suitcaseman - JR was Lisbon based and planned to offer a crew gateway system with a number of European cities available to start/finish your duty.
Of course it never happened :* |
Some people have spoken about the "PRICING".. but i cant find any prices on their website. So you give us an idea of what they are charging?
Thanks Mutt |
Cheap Prices?
I actually don`t know how deep you`re all in the pricing of bizjet`s, but I`ve checked and tried it out, even more expensive than well established CJ 1&2 Operators here in GER.
Even though I wish all the best for them, I can`t imagine that only a "online booking system for bizzer`s" is pushing them into the market, especially not with Fares higher than the competition . |
