Comlux Aviation

Hello,

can a Comlux Aviation pilot contact me via PM please? I have some urgent questions about the company!

Thanks! :D

Are they hiring for their A318CJs yet? If so, what are the minimums and the domicile (I presume Zurich)?

Still working for Comlux? If yes, can you confirm Comlux Aviation jobs, payscales and entry requirements.?

Thank you very much!

I was about to post a long rant about T&Cs @ Comlux, then found this website

Comlux Aviation jobs, payscales and entry requirements.

which describes everything the way it is. Mass exodus of pilots and flight ops office staff.
If they continue like that, they will soon be no more, as competition is growing.
Ruined by incompetence...

Good luck, if you try anyway.

Hy PH.
I saw the updated Comlux Aviation jobs, payscales and entry requirements.
The incomes don't look bad, but can you provide more information about taxation level in Switzerland?
Talking about that managerial incompetence... About what it is, specifically?

Iver 21st Sep 2010 18:05

Pilots leaving in droves and yet Management does nothing? Interesting. Do they end up cancelling many flights with such short staffing? Are there training bonds involved or are all hired pilots typed before they start?

Let's say, hypothetically, that someone with Airbus A319/20 time were interested in an A318 Elite FO position with Comlux based in Europe. I am not that person but I know someone who would be looking at such an opportunity. So, some questions for people in the know:

1. Are there specific pilot bases (i.e., in Switzerland) or can you live anywhere on the continent? What are the basing restrictions?

2. Understanding that there is no schedule (completely ad hoc), what "could" a typical/average month look like on the Airbus fleet in terms of numbers of trips, days off, etc.? I realise every month is different. Just looking at averages...

3. What is the minimum requirement in terms of time in type to upgrade to Captain on the Airbus fleet? How long might that take (especially with the rapid exodus of pilots)?

4. What are the primary reasons why people are leaving? Is it basically pay and scheduling? I see many of the negatives discussed - what about any positives at Comlux?

My mate will likely stay where he is (German LCC) but he is still interested in looking at alternatives.

Cheers - PMs also welcome.

Altiman 7th Feb 2011 09:26

Iver you say positives, there are no positives. All negatives.

Pilots leave because they are treated very bad or they are laid off with no good reason.

Monthly rosters are unstable and sometimes there may not be any days off as the office extend your duty and extend your duty.

They like type rated guys, and also 4000hours+ (all said I've known very low hour guys join- they leave very soon after)

The Swiss contracts are no longer so the pay scales are not in a good structured manner. But standard pay is 6000 US dollars per month (fo) this is without deductions.

Bases - depending on fleet, it used to be where you live, so if you live in Zurich you would be Zurich based but now if you are on the bus they now
want you to be Bahrain based. This will be the same for any new jets = Bahrain based. I do not know the living package but it won't be good. And
family will not be looked after unlike a lot of employers who want middle east based pilots.

I suggest you tell your friend to look at 'pullup hard' posts as all are very correct. If he is wanting to leave a job to go to Comlux then tell him to stay put. No job security.

backtobasics 21st Apr 2011 22:42

look at all the posts from PUH and read very carefully. Do not apply to or join this company unless you absolutely have no other option, Airbus or GLX.

So called "management" is incompetent without management skills or qualification.

Lack of respect for customers = losing aircraft management contracts.
Lack of respect for staff = losing very experienced and customer focused staff.

nuff said!

Anyone know about the Global operation based in Nassau?

BizJet700 22nd Apr 2011 12:42

That would be HB-JGH in Nassau. I hear they actually spend more time in Geneva.

kepa007 1st May 2011 07:56

They need crews, but more importantly they need change from within

Yes they need crews.

Management is their biggest challenge. They want to do good. They know not what good is.

Pilots are the greatest to work with. The Global team is very switched on and the Airbus bunch have had an amazing wealth of experience now GONE.

They used to be a great company to work for. Every person that made the company what it used to be is Long gone, either fired or tired of so much NOT KNOWING any more.

My advise: Join them if they want you. Don't expect too much of them, and if you can change them, do so. They need so much help!.

What others have posted here is quite accurate of what Comlux is today.

They can change but it will take a REAL long time. In the mean time many others will depart. So they will always need of YOU.

Happy findings.

Comlux Middle East, a company of Comlux The Aviation Group and Saudia Private Aviation (SPA) signed today at EBACE Air show an agreement to develop VIP charter markets in the Middle East.

Today, Saudia Private Aviation (SPA) strategic business unit of Saudi Arabia Airlines and Comlux are respectively two of the leading VIP charter operators’ in Middle East and Europe, operating at the highest standards of safety and quality.

The facility of Comlux Middle East in the Kingdom of Bahrain offers an excellent positioning nearby Saudi Arabia. Comlux with its EASA AOC, operates regularly VIP flights from the Middle East and will make its modern fleet of ultra spacious Wide Body Corporate Jets available for the clients of Saudia Private Aviation (SPA).
Sounds interesting :):).

Hows Comlux for flight attendants? Any info? Got an interview with them coming up. Ta!

Offshoring back office

Is there any substance behind the rumour that the whole office (excepting the big cheeses & sales) will be outsourced to OTBD? I guess the Swiss AOC is now also irrelevant...

HomerSimpson 24th Jan 2012 22:59

I heard the firing continues at Comlux. Not just the flight crews but most of the office at Kloten. The company is in a bad way with unpaid bills from owners and grounding aircraft due to lack of crews (which they have just fired due to costs).

Some crews have not been paid on time with excuses from accounts that its their own banks fault. Sometimes a month late.

A sinking ship maybe - hopefully not though as the industry doesn't need another bit hitter ending up in the sh*t*er.

CaptainProp 25th Jan 2012 09:24

Strange to hear they are grounding ac due to lack of crew. I know at least two rated guys who have been looking to get in to Comlux and they have heard nothing back. Perhaps more evidence of their organization being in a bad state....?

Comlux new Bases!

Hi
looking to go in any direction of Comlux? Don`t!
recently they announced that b/c of financial difficulties as of February 2012, all B767 and Airbus Crew will be based where the current aircraft is based. Most of the flights and hence their clients are in or around Bahrain....so guess where you will end up...??!
The Swiss AOC is meanwhile seized. The last remaining Aircraft, a BD700 was therefore forced to leave...lucky them!
My recommendation, stay the hell away from COMLUX!!!!

cheers

Glex Driver 29th Apr 2012 15:50

Global based in Nassa

Hi guys,
this aircraft was forced to leave the Comlux ops. Reason ,it was the only one remaining HB-aircraft, and since Comlux decided to close their AOC in switzerland they left and went to Execujet.
Comlux is falling apart, Comlux used stand for Competence and Luxury.
Today, it stands for Communication is luxury...!
Nothing gets around, nothing gets solved, too many micro managers without any thorough knowledge.
fire and hire is common and nobody seems to know what is going on.
HR is preoccupied because of holding stock!!!!!!!!!!
Sad to see such a precious Airline going down the drain.
But this is what happens if you pay peanuts - you get monkeys!!:ugh::(

KirkyMS 8th May 2012 11:16

Indeed very very sad to see what happens there - the Comlux crews i had the pleasure to hang out with frequently were a bunch of incredibly nice and funny people, and i´m not talking about one crew only...
