List of Type Rating Costs (US FAA)

Hi fellow ppruners. Was just clearing out some old files from the PC and came across this interesting information regarding Biz Jets type ratings (however they are in $ and no doubt reflect the US FAA system). But hey you never know it might prove useful one or another.

Good stuff! Thanks,

I suppose that the price differences probably mean that some packages include accom. and perhaps local transport.

not necessarily, you need to call and ask if they are JAA approved as a TRTO and also if the wanted rating course has a JAA approval and they have JAA-TRE's on staff.

Also these prices are negotiable and sometimes they price match(biz-jets for me..maybe not the heavy iron)

I know how you can get the exact same training for about 10K less than the $36000 and it will be with CAE.

.. and what about 787 and 747-8? thanks
Roughly the same as the Concorde and Spitfire... ;)

169west 30th Mar 2010 21:21

787 TR is only 5 sim if you have a 777 TR, dont know the price but should be so bad!
747-8 sim don't know if it is the same as the 400, but I dont think you need new TR if you already have the 400!

GV

For those who are interested I just found out SimuFlite DFW wants $49.6k if you are a private individual for a GV type. Add another $10k if a company is flipping the bill.

They are scamers that they have office in Denver,CO but they say they are using a sim in Miami FL and other state. So, they take your $$$$$Money and have you run around.
As far as Instructor goes,.....It is very sad. they have little next to none info,...At least the one that we had to deal with(I do not want to say name!!),...But anyway my advice to you take your money and turn around and run!!! and Run as fast as you can and go to other place but FTI.:ugh::yuk::yuk::yuk:

Horrible Prices!

These details are nearly a decade old, but the prices are still offensive, even in in 2015/2016 dollars. Short of the owner/pilot for whom cash is not an issue, I cannot imagine anyone having to buy a BizJet Type Rating with personal funds, perhaps based on some fantasy job. At the end of the day, any private BizJet operator who is already pleased with a pilot's credentials, will cough up the bucks for a the necessary TR and consider it part of the cost of operating the airplane; they can afford it or they cannot. Most sincere best wishes to those in the field or wishing to enter same, but please guys (and gals) hang on to your personal bucks and do not spend them on Fantasy Flights.
Why are these TR's so darned expensive? Well beyond the provider's need to generate some profit, the vast majority of the hands-on training is done in full motion simulators, owned or time-leased by the training operators. The sims are extremely expensive. Again, hold on to your personal funds and... Good Luck!:yuk:

Flying Mechanic 24th Nov 2015 04:32

Keep pay for rating out of the corporate rating. If your qualified the owner will pay. I did a recurrent with a guy that had paid for his rating....was shocking.

flint4xx 2nd Oct 2019 02:31

Anybody seen an update to type rating costs in 2019?

CE525 $12000 seems to be the going rate...
